Work at a job where most of my coworkers lift/work out in some manner. Ask them what their bench is, best lift I heard was 245 but was apparently months ago. Keep in mind they weigh more than me, probably 190-200. Tell them I weigh 175 and incline bench 295x3. Is this normal for you guys too? Is it really only like .1% of the population benching over 225 for reps easily? Just blows my mind how no one lifts

TFW you realize 2 plate bench is "good" for people outside of misc

I think this is primarily because most people don't lift long enough to rep 225. That's around the 2-4 year mark depending on a million different things, and if you're pushing it.
Now there's plenty of gifted strong people, or people who are just fat as **** and used to carrying their own fat, who can start out repping decent numbers. But your average people are probably going to start repping what? 120-160 right? Natty that's a loooooooooooooooong climb to repping 225, from repping 1 plate a side. Long long climb.

Good point. I know I got a good set of genes and make crazy gains but it shouldn't take that long to develop a 225 bench. When I started lifting about 18 months ago my max was like 205 and I weighed 155. Put on weight extremely fast and made quick gains but are people just potatoes when it comes to working out? Shouldn't take a year to get 2 plates. I don't think it's asking a whole lot increasing your max by at least 5lbs a week off noob gains.

You have to understand that most people that pick things up and put things down have absolutely no idea what they're doing and just do it seem cool in the gym so you're at a major advantage. So for the uneducated/nonlifting community you're lifts wouldn't be considered great. For the lifting community it wouldn't be as highly regarded.

Alright real talk here 225 is nothing special to people who actually train to get strong but to people who just go to the gym for health it is and I think it also is for non-serious Bros
I see a lot of guys at the gym who look really aesthetic but only bench like 155 for a few reps and they look like they could hit 315
But in regards to people who train for strength not just including powerlifters but also male athletes it is not a big deal
Basically people who actually try hard to bench x amount of weight aren't impressed but everyone else ishi my name is john i am 5'2" 175lbs and trying to get aesthetic
squat: 225
bench:185
deadlift: 245
