Is there anyone here who squats a lot?
I want my squat to come up, thinking of squatting up to 5 times a week for a bit.
Does anyone do that, how is recovery? How are your hips?

I just got done with a program that had me squatting three times a week which was a lot for me.
However it may be a little to someone else.
I am not sure about power lifters but I know there are a lot of olympic weightlifters that squat every day, but these guys are elite.
I would say get on a good program and see if your body can recover.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

When I started SL 5x5, I was doing the workouts back to back with a day rest after workout B. As such, I was squatting 5 days per week. It was fine as far as recovery and all that, just make sure to eat enough. Once I was doing 255 lbs 5x5, I had to switch to working out every other day. Currently I squat 3 or 4 times per week, depending on the week. Today I did 325 lbs 5x5, and no problems to speak of.

IMO, 5 times a week is too much. The only time I would say it's not too much is if you are a seasoned lifter who has exhausted every other program/option. You can only break your muscles down so many times without giving them proper recovery time before the tissue tears and you have an injury. The joints thing I would say is more genetic, even tho you can def do some wear and tear from squatting that frequently. IF you were to squat 5x per week, I would say do 2 hard workouts per week and then the rest 40-50% range to simply get blood and nutrients to that area. But really bro- imo, bad chitty idea

Want to squat more? Eat more. I remember a couple of times when I was 164. Once was when I was 16. The other time was 4 years ago when I had just gotten out of the hospital after living off of an IV for a week.

I have had periods in my life where i'd squat, heavily, 6x in a week...and had great results. Currently I am squatting 4x+deadlifting 2x.... it is VERY simple...
The MORE you can train, AND recover from, the better off you'll be. That said, your conditioning and experience, the volume(my daily volume is very low), your life outside the gym, eating, sleeping and other factors should determine how often you squat.
If you think you have a fairly good grasp on most of these variables, and how to control them to best auto-regulate... if you're not comfortable with that, sticking to something else proven is probably in your best interest.680/412.5/647.5-1740, raw elite 308 (meet, raw, wraps)

Thank you. To be fair though, I already had a good base when I started squatting. Between the ages of 21 and 32 I was pretty fat, and at one point I was over 300 lbs. Carry around that much weight long enough and your legs just get stronger out of necessity. Drop 60 pounds and all of a sudden you feel like you could lift cars with your legs, hehe.

Jesus over 3 bills at 6'1. Good job on the weight loss, looking pretty damn lean in the pick.
People that used to be real heavy are always naturally just stronger.
I have gained about a little under ten pounds every year since high school. I graduated at 155 now I am close to 195, so I am quite the opposite.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

Damn six times a week at 1000kg.
Nasty.
But what ranges (reps & %) do you usually do, and how long did it your body to get used to that.
Squat day is my favorite day so I would want to do it as often as possible, I just got done with 3 days a week, and that was pretty hard.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

Nice man. I see you over in the calling all OLers thread as I like to check out the vids.
I just got done with three day a week program.
I don't mean to brag but I smashed 335 for two doubles a couple days ago. Yeah I know, I am pretty proud of it.
I am going to start the Russian masters program but add a day of front squats in the middle of the week.
You get good gains going 5 times a week, and how often are those days maximal for either max reps or weight?
I am also thinking of just tossing in some extra days at about 50% just to help get the blood flowing.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

Squatting heavy everyday for 5 weeks now.using the broz powerlifting routine.i use the front squat, back squat, zombie, and dead start front and back squat as my main, alternating to whatever I feel like.saturdays I will just squat the bar for a few sets of 25 just to continue the adaption process.i have put 65lbs on my front(315)and 75 on my zombie squat.i have not gone all out on my back squat yet as I really wanted to focus on my front.the best thing about this is how great I feel and how all my aches and pains disappeared.i am never sore and only use singles.i also pull for speed around 70%3 times a week.you don't need to be "juiced"up for this as a lot of people say.i do this while working a lot of hours each week.
All time world record holder in the squat-610 at 165 raw no wraps.1430 total
