    hip pain question

I've been doing SS for a little over a month now and have maybe been too ambitious about adding weight for my frame. I use a wide stance for squats and a sumo stance for deadlifts and that pivoting motion is making my hips hurt here:

Maybe a little closer to the groin area. I'm assuming this is a tight hip flexor problem, because I can't get very low on my squats--can hardly squat at all with a conventional stance-- and squatting 115 lbs seems to have given me this problem (though DLing 160 has probably made it worse). I tried DLing with a conventional stance today and that was slightly better for my hips, but I tend to crane and not keep my back as tight because I can't get it over my knees otherwise...

It doesn't feel like nerve pain or a spinal problem, particularly, but it hurts when I DL or squat and I had to cut my cardio short the other day because these same little muscles that hurt are used to run.

I'm enjoying doing SS, but should I just do some upper body isolation movements for a while until it doesn't hurt anymore? Should I just keep going?

I had the same problem that persisted for probably a few weeks. Start stretching really well before and after. Does it hurt sometimes in certain positions while you're sitting down?

I kept working out just as hard, and the pain finally went away. You probably just strained it a bit. You might want to take it a bit easier, but mine went on for a while (possibly because I kept working hard). Anyway, that's just my experience!

It doesn't really hurt just sitting-- mostly at a certain point pushing up from a sitting position/squatting. It seems more connected to load-bearing and movement than being static. I do hope it goes away, though, as in your experience!

These videos are very helpful! I need to stretch more but it always gets forgotten somehow.
