    How far before workout do you drink protein shake?

    I make a protein smoothie each day with whey protein, pb, and some fruit.

    I normally drink it at 2:00 pm and hit the gym between around 3:30.

    This seems like a good balance. I was wondering what kind of time frame others use.

    I normally do 1/2 a protein shake (just powder and water) about 20 minutes before my workout. That's mainly because I'll drink it when I get home and then go workout (and it keeps me from getting hungry mid-workout).

    I have tried drinking a shake right before a workout but it made me feel slow and bloated.

    Now I usually have one about 1hour before a workout.

    I will have another post workout with a bannana and brown bread as a snack.

    Well my pre-workout shake consists of whey with some dextrose and water and i usually take it 30-40 mins before a workout. but with your shake id probably take it 1.5-2 hours before.

    Usually I drink my protein 30 to 40 minutes after the workout, but I always have a pre-workout meal around 1 hour before gym, consisting of a 1/2lb can of yoghurt (low fat) and 50 grams of oats.

    About 30 minutes prior if its a liquid meal, 1 hour prior if its a solid meal.

    ^this. i have a wholefood meal (8oz chicken 10oz red/sweet potatoes) 2hrs prior to training.

    23 hours.

    I train first thing in the morning on a cup of tea.

    I've been told many times that my arse will fall off if I do this, but I do just fine on it. I've tried a small protein drink, but it makes me uncomfortable. I have 25g whey with a pint of warm milk and 100g powdered oatmeal on carb days, and 50g whey with half a can of coconut milk on keto days.
