I have always wondered why people are either of these especially the latter.
I can understand that the way we treat and kill the animals is hardly humane but surely neither is a lion rippin a gazelle limb from limb? Animals kill each other all the time, whats so wrong about us doing it?
If anything zapping a few bolts through a cows head is surely the quickest/best way to go about it?
Just interested in why you guys do it. Discuss.

What would happen to lions if they stopped eating gazelles?
What would happen to you if you stopped eating cows?
What understanding does a lion have of inflicting suffering, and what are its alternative options? Does it have some?
What understanding do you have of inflicting suffering, and what are your alternative options? Do you have some?
As for our way being more humane, would you rather have a free life and die in a scary way, or have a miserable life and die in a way that MIGHT be quick or it MIGHT be miserable?
Read up on what actually goes on. Check out my "Earthlings" thread, or just go to http://www.earthlings.com/ (graphic!)
More later if you want it.
Also, I did it for health and environmental reasons as well. Less cancer, less heart disease, an average 5 more years of life, sick less often, eating more natural foods, etc.

There is a huge difference between a lion killing a free-roaming gazelle and humans killing a captive, domesticated cow.
- The gazelle killed by the lion has lived freely, and has enjoyed its life. It's death is reasonably swift.
- The cow is raised in captivity, under conditions that rarely rise above abysmal. It's entire life is atrocious, and its death is rarely much better.
Furthermore, there are plenty of things animals do that we consider immoral. Lions will kill any unrelated babies a potential mate has prior to indulging in intercourse. They aren't exactly great role models for morality. When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

As mentioned above, if we justify killing animals with what happens in nature, you are equally justified in raping women, killing their babies, sh!tting all over your office, etc.
Also:
According to the USDA:
1 acre of land can produce 20,000 pounds of vegetables, or 165 pounds of meat.
According to Conservation International:
Average emissions from animal product diet: 11 tons/year/person
Average emissions from plant diet: 6 tons/year/person
Land needed to support animal product diet: 3 1/2 acres
Land needed to support plant diet: 1/6 acre
Water needed to support animal product diet: 2,500 gallons/day
Water needed to support plant diet: 300 gallons/day

So basically for being intellectually gifted and a superior race, we should deny ourselves of the foods that predators around us need for their survival? The human body is accustomed to eating meat, its not ideallic that we eat substitutes, why have we been born this way if its so wrong?
Its only until recently we have this option of not eatin meat, years ago the day-to-day job of a man was to be a hunter-gatherer, would you of been vegetarian back then as they killed animals in graphic ways, and had no idea of any alternatives? Or just because of the way we treat them now and the availability of substitue foods is that why you are vegan/vegetarian?
Not trying to have a go btw, just interested.
P.s. I have seen lots of animal rights videos, they do make me feel bad about eating meat but damnit it tastes so good!☆☆☆υк ¢яєω☆☆☆

Animals have to kill each other to survive in the wild- cats cannot live on plant diets either.
For me it is a mixture- I have IBS which means I cannot process most food- including meat, plus I never really enjoyed the taste of it, I do not like the fact that animals are killed & we eat them & however much I brushed my teeth after eating beefstakes I could not get rid of the smell of rotting carcass.

Thanks for your input guys.
The way SOME animals are treated is dreadful, but what about free range/organic etc, is this any better? Admitedly, I do think a large portion of these are marketing gimmicks to get people to spend more.
Kudos to you guys for being in the bodybuilding scene and being vegetarian/vegan, must be damn hard!☆☆☆υк ¢яєω☆☆☆

High sugar fruit, generally. You can get the numbers in a quick google search.
Remember, the fruit our ancestors consumed hundreds of thousands of years ago on the savanna was nothing like the fruit we have artificially selected in modern times for sweetness.
Loads of Sugar, regardless of source = worst thing you can put in your body.

I believe God gave us this earth and in Genesis 9:3 he said "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things."
So I can understand you not "wanting to hurt animals" because its inhumane, but where is your bleeding heart for all the animals that be killed in crop harvesters? Don't you care about them? Or in this circumstance the ends is over the means to achieve them because its to the benefit of your lifestyle? If you don't want to eat meat because you want to live healthier, thats fine and dandy, but there is no need to guilt others to make them go to your level of eating habits. Meat is a natural part of a diet as well as gives plenty of nutrients that are scarce found in plants. Does it mean that we should completely eat our heart out when it comes to cows? Probably not but over-abundance of anything can be a bad thing.

I just love when ppl pretend that eating a cow is bad, guess what ****ers, we need that cow.... we need it for survival.. thats how its been forever and thats how its gonna be... just like sex and death.... its with us for ever....
if it wasnt for food chain no animal including us would be here now... not eating like were supposed to eat is the major reason why all these diseases are going on, from obesity to cancers..
guess what theres was near to no cancer back in the hunter gatherer days.... they have the most intact remains of any time in history.... after agriculture everything health wise jsut went down hill..
this is the truth.
