I'm currently laid off and I have $45,000 to invest in something that will keep me from having to go back to work. I have the skills to get a Cisco Networking Certification that could get me a decent job, but I can't stand the thought of working just to make someone else rich. I have sold electronics on ebay in the past and could easily make $400-$800 a week in profit. Thinking about doing it again. Any other ideas? Stock market? Small Franchise? Serious Brahs.

brah if you dont invest in some real estate your a ****ing idiot.
This too shall pass and when it does people who invested in real estate are going to be all setThere is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.

Dunno what the market is like over there but you could try flipping houses
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.
The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."
The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

I have thought very seriously about buying the triplex I live in. Owner is interested in selling it to me for $130,000 which seems way to cheap compared to other properties I have looked at in the area. I was gonna pull the trigger, but then I got laid off. I don't think I'm gonna get any help from the bank being laid off. BTW, I dont mind working as long as it is for myself.

There's no real way to make a sure killing in the stock market unless you really know what you're doing. Even then there is still a great amount of risk.
If you have your heart set on the stock market, I would start with something like mutual funds. They are relatively low risk, but also generally have a low return.
In my short experience in life, selling things has been the easiest way to make good money with little effort. Be it an ebay business, selling on craigslist, or whatever, you can make some serious money if you find a way to sell something high in demand you can get for cheap.
