If genetics = too much sun exposure/tanning, lack of adequate sleep, poor hygiene, poor diet/nutrition, alcohol, cigarettes, 'substances' and stress. Then yes, I'd say genetics are the cause. There is a reason why a lot of people go down-hill hard in college.
But in general physical genetics can matter. But I think a lot of it is more the above. My mom looks about 15 years younger then her younger sister (she's older by 3 years). Older sister would rank as 'terrible' for all of the above. Where as my mom was good on all of them and never drank, smoked or used substances. Same basic genetics. Huge difference in life-style and appearance because of it.
Genetics play a role but the primary causes are the above ^. Someone like Jared Leto is a good example of amazing aging genetics. But if you look through his pics he's never tan, overweight, likely has little to no stress, gets adequate sleep, etc. So I'm pretty sure he has a bunch of other bad 'habits' ^. But genetics override that.

pattern baldness is genetic, none of what you listed makes a difference to it....hence why you see full heads of hair on homeless degenerates that do literally all of what you listed.
Never understood where people get this idea that legit balding is optional or somehow within a guy's control. It's genes fukking your chit up. Think of it like being afflicted with manlet syndrome.**MFC**

"They'll tell you failure is not an option. That is ridiculous. Failure is always an option. Failure is the most readily available option at all times, but it's a choice. You can choose to fail or you can choose to succeed. But failure is always there, and it's okay to recognize that."- Chael P. Sonnen

I've mentioned this in other places, balding isn't a disease, it's likely a genetic marker of maturity and maybe leadership that calms people.
There's been lots of psych studies on perceptions of others based on appearance. These are called "Attribution Errors" as the conclusions are based on appearance, not experience with the person. Anyway, bald men are always seen as trustworthy, mature, calm, and other positive traits of a leader.
Chimps get it too, so it's probably a "sign" to other humans more than an illnessIf you want to ask me a question:
