She knows it's extravagant, that's why she's running the idea by me (she said several times that she knew it's a crazy idea) to see what I think. I think she's just desperate for a gift idea, and lacks the time to think up of a great one. The best friend gave her an awesome professionally-designed photo album with pictures of them growing up, and I think my wife feel the need to do something equally nice back.

For my wife's birthday, the best friend gave her an awesome photo-album that was professionally made (the pictures are printed onto the pages) of them growing up together.
