metabolic training, will get the heart rate up, actually as I'm writing this the misses is doing jump rope 2min, 10 burpees, 20 mountain climbers, 4x over. should take her about 16minutes, she will burn more calories than steady state cardio for 25min, and burn more after she finishes.

you said you cant go outside. idk if you have an injury or what.

do you even go to the gym(not trying to be an ass)

you can do crunches to max, then pushups to max, jumping jacks max, up downs til max.

    pretty much the p90x?

just incorporating movement to keep your heart rate elevated

Jumping rope and jump-squats are both good options. I use them both regularly.

I just did a search to find out what a "burpee" is. I was pleasantly surprised. Hahaha, I'd never heard it called that.

I have this problem too sometimes (I have a young baby)

Burpees, mountain climbers, jump rope, insanity cardio DVDs. Insanity ones work well although higher impact. I use a gymboss timer to do intervals. I also have a treadmill, rower, and bicycle plus a full gym but when I need to change things up I do bodyweight stuff.

I find if you do squats (even bodyweight, or a light counterweight to go keep balance going deeply) the heart rate tends to heighten after a while.

Working a series of compound movements one after another (or in a complex) also seems to do it... what's that called again, circuit training?

Yep no rest, lungs feel like they are on fire after, you could start with x3 to start,

Tyriol---tabata squats are evn better, do with a small swissball under you, 40seconds squats as fast as you can, rest 20, repeatx4. Thats tabata, super good at bringing metabolism up.

Do the 300 workout. Freaking intense.

    25 Push Ups
    25 Mountain Climbers
    25 Squats
    25 Lunges
    50 Bicycles
    50 Jumping Jacks
    25 Lunges
    25 Squats
    25 Mountain Climbers
    25 Push Ups

This usually gets me burning like crazy. If you want, go for 5 sets of them. Oh, no rests in between or try to reduce the rest.
