If I search the same thing twice within about 120 minutes, I only get the results from the first search (as in it won't actually do a new search the 2nd time...at the top it will say "search results generated x minutes ago"
doesn't happen on most other vbulletin sites i've tried so i'm guessing it's a feature that can be changed...just a suggestion

Has The Search Function Changed?
I can no longer seem to use quotes to search phrases. For example, you used to be able to search "best vitamin" or something of the like to get a decent amount of search results (compared to just searching "vitamin") however now when you use quotes it gives you the "minimum word length (3)".
Could that be resolved? It makes searching for certain things far more involved and difficult.Team Never Full

title search problem or just me?
just wondering if this is a known issue, i can never seem to narrow results by Find posts from newer than <any range> if you search by titles.
Looks like if you search entire body it works ok, but anytime I do a title search and try to apply those rules or even sort by post date with it i go back to the begging and get pages of posts..
example search for anything by title, and do search Find Posts from A week ago and newer. You will get 15 pages of anything remotely common and go back years.

Problems with the search engine
The search engine for the forum works okay, but the one for the rest of the site stinks! I've searched for things that I know are there, and it comes up no results. I've searched for particular exercises and got nothing, but I can work my way through the database, and there it is.
Is there some problem in the system somewhere? Has something been corrupted, or is something being upgraded or something? I'm tired of looking for something that I should be able to find with a click.HOOAH!

FIX THE SEARCH FUNCTION: Default should be, LAST POSTING DATE
every time you search you MUST go advanced on here now and it really blows.
it was better before. now even clicking a person's posts in their bodyspaces pulls up threads all out of order, i find it to be useless now.
this should def be fixed.Godhand502 = the man!

Hey... Know that this doesn't solve the general issue... but, on the advanced search page, select the "Last Posting Date" listing (and any other preferences that you may normally select) and then click the "Save Search Preferences" option from the drop down below the "Search Now" and "Reset Fields" buttons at the bottom of the page... and then click the "Go" button... you will still have to go to the advanced search page for any searches that you may have... but at least you won't have to select all of your search preferences each time...

Not only does the ordering problem need to be fixed. But it seems like the actual search function doesn't work properly, ie it doesn't return what it should!

yeah it gets sorted by "relevance" which is retarded because it ends up searching just for the words without any sense of context, leading to ridiculous search results that dont make sense. the misc especially throws a wrench in this due to the wide range of topics it covers. the "similar threads" feature shouldn't even be enabled as it puts undue strain on the servers by basically enacting a new search every time someone makes/reads a thread
