I have done nothing but search and search for reviews and information in regards to a new lifting belt. I just can't find anything helpful. I am trying to decide between a leather or a nylon belt reinforced with neoprene. I am going to be doing a lot of heavy deadlifts and squats here soon, and I don't want to throw my back out. I tried using the one's they have at the gym, and they are crap... they slide around too much, and the leather is stressed and cracked, which is why I am looking at nylon too.
The two belts I am looking at are: the Scheik Model 2006 (nylon) and L2006 (leather version). I tried to post the links, but I don't have enough posts yet.
I am thinking about the Scheik 3006 too which has the neoprene re-inforcement. Which is better? Any help you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated.

I already did that before I posted and I could not find ANYTHING on the Schiek belts I'm looking into, nor did I find anything on the difference between leather and nylon belts. I'm not completely new to the forum. Next time please trust me when I say I looked everywhere... because it usually means that I looked EVERYWHERE... no hard feelings though, you were trying to make a point.

If you want someone to tell you how good a nylon belt is try out the personal trainers subforum section.

No I read it, but everything is all subjective to the reader too. I was just trying to see the pros and cons of both rather than seeing everything one-sided (which seems to be all-leather, and neither of the Schiek belts). The Schiek's countour design caught my attention, and I wanted to know about those belts and those belts alone. Since it was not in the Reviews section, I figure I was warranted in asking here, and not posting it right in the middle of all the reviews like others did. I didn't come to start some huge forum battle royal.

Rest assured, they suck.
A belt provides stability secondary to increases in intra-abdominal pressure. So the stiffer and thicker a belt is, the greater the ability to increase IAP. However, its ability is limited by the width of the belt, so a tapered belt only provides resistance equal to its narrowest point. So these belts that are 2" wide in front but 4" or 6" inches in back are still basically a 2" belt.
Questions on getting something out of a belt:
1. How thick is it?
2. How wide is it?
3. How stiff is it? (do not draw any ghey parallels here please)
4. How much air can I suck in once I have the belt tightened down?
5. Can I push my abs out so hard that my ass will compress a lump of coal into a diamond?

Now see that was informative... so because they contour they lose strength even though they claim to provide better support... gotcha... that's all I needed... still wouldn't mind getting some feedback from people who have used them before, but I'm not complaining with the info you just gave. Thanks. Rep commin' your way...

My hand felt fine too until I got the real thing....
That all looks familiar...
But for this guy you missed one more thing
6. How pretty is it?
Also, subjective to the subsection of a forum you are in.
I started out with one like that. It was useful to hook a sled up too.
That was everything that was covered in the reviews thread.
Ahh... don't make me blush.Last edited by Jason2459; 07-06-2009 at 04:41 PM.

Maybe they've changed, but this is right off their website...
Black is usually kept in inventory in sizes S-XXL for quick shipping.
All other colors and sizes are constructed after order. All Tapered Belts are also constructed after order is placed.
Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery for any after-order constructed Forever Belt.
It took about three weeks to get my belt. And in keeping with the thread, I got the Inzer Forever belt, single prong, and couldn't be any happier with it.
Nylon belts? Powerlifting? That just doesnt sound right.Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. -- Colossians 3:1
For every day I'm lifting light, someone else is lifting heavy. That motivates me to lift harder.
You might be a powerlifter if people at gym tell you someone is looking very 'cut' and you think they had a terrible accident in the kitchen.

I just picked up an Inzer 10mm Lever, and I love it. For the past 12 years I have been using one of the Sheik contoured belts, and well, I loved that one too, but the velcro started to finally give out.
I really like my Inzer for the fact that it's going to last FOREVER. You can put that thing on tighter than you could EVER get a prong belt on. Only drawbacks are that you can't adjust it without a screwdriver (though you don't need to unless you're really picky on different exercises). The other thing that I've noticed with the Inzer is that there is NO WAY I can deadlift with it. Maybe it's just me not being used to a full width belt, but man, last weeks DL session HURT!
So, if you're really looking for a Sheik belt review, I'll give ya one. I really liked my belt, it lasted over a decade of pretty heavy lifting. It was always VERY comfortable to wear, and provided plenty of support. I still carry it in my bag, along with my lever belt, and will be pulling it out for DL's. Maybe you asked your question in the wrong section, maybe the guys in here have never trained with one before. I personally have seen several competitors wearing this kind of belt, and they definitely knew what they were doing. Best way to figure out what you want is to try them on.My Treadmill Goes to "11"!
