Bro there's literally a conflict in the show because the supe wants to choose his gender and be free to be a girl but he's getting pressured by his family to stay as a boy and make them proud. This literally cannot be more on the nose as a representation for transgenderism lol

the dad always raised a boy since the powers only establish later in life so he struggles with the female form, the supe itself is comfortable switching but has never expressed feeling like a female imo (?) so she does it at the party to spite the dad, what teens tend to do
if you really want to I guess you can dig into it and make it about trannies and wokeism and morality but I don't think it's blatantly so
if this alone is reason to label the entire series as woke garbage you're gonna have a hard time finding anything that fits your agenda
unrelated, how do you rate The last of Us 2 then lol+++ miscin' at work crew +++

I watched a bit, it's ok.
Theres some wokeness but I think some of it also just classic overused teenage tropes, ie - cutting yourself, trying to please/piss off your parents, the chick who throws up... These are like classic teenager things. I don't really think they are woke necessarily.
As far as the gender swapper... Idk I guess it could be woke, but the character is Asian and we all know how Asians like their sons over their daughters. I don't think in 2023 it's going to be possible to do something gender related without being called woke, period. If this show was 15 years ago no one would be crying that the gender swapping kid was woke. We would all just assume he transforms to a boy because his Asian parents didn't want a girl? Maybe idk.
As far as the debauchery... I think that's the idea of the boys universe. The "heroes" are the most degen and use their powers to get off more than they do to save anyone. I would expect that to be ramped up quite a bit more when focusing on immature teenagers, I think it makes sense they are even more fukked than the boys.
Idk it's an OK show, I don't think it needs to cry woke tooooooo bad but I can also understand why it turns some people away. I'll keep watching for nowSometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

The thing is people don't want anything to fit an agenda. They want escapism that doesn't preach at them or condescend to them or bring up annoying "hot button issues" that they're force-fed on a daily basis 24/7.
How hard is that to understand, ph@660t? Not everyone wants to watch "Euphoria x The Cucked Amazon Version of the Boys"

you missed my point
I'm saying the show isn't overly pushing any agenda at all, yet people seem to search for chit that doesn't fit their agenda living rentfree
have you even watched the show?
The Boys series is waaaaaaaay more agenda pushing woke chit than Gen V
so far at least I hope it stays this way+++ miscin' at work crew +++

Again I haven't watched it but the parts I've seen are actually "woke" (even though I dislike that word).
The entire premise of this scene is a white male terrorist overcome by media that says "keep America safe again!" as a slogan. The radicalized white male then goes on to shoot an innocent middle eastern man.
Are you... trying to convince me the underlying tones here aren't written by a left leaning person trying to convey their own narrative here? This isn't a leftist propaganda-styled wet dream?
This is the exact narrative left leaning writers constantly try to get at. Another recent example were the episodes of the new Lord of the Rings series.

I mean you can take it personally and be offended like a male Karen or realize they are making satire of exactly what does happen with the politics and media in America.
As someone who doesn't give a chit about politics I don't get offended. You really going to act like radicalized ass white dudes haven't been shooting up places in America? Why be offended? It's simply a play on real things that have happened. There's been an insane amount of racial and political driven shootings exactly like that video. To deny it is absurd. It bothers you because it's true.
Polticial weirdos just out here complaining about narratives and left learners and whatever cringe chit and can't even enjoy a tv show because of their own personal inner political crisis LOLSometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I just don't really get offended by fiction.
I turn off plenty of things that are too woke to enjoy. I just didn't think the first episode (that's all I've seen) was really THAT bad. Sure some is cringe but I've seen way worse out there.
Either way the scene he posted is from the boys, not gen v. Did you turn it off when that little sub plot took place? It didn't bother me, i could totally see that happening if superheroes existed.
Dudes just butthurt cuz "muh politicals". People like that don't enjoy anything that rustles their view point.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I never said I was offended, I'm sitting here just casually browsing and replying. It's a sign that you don't have a real argument if you use a straw man argument.
White guys actually commit fewer hate crimes than black guys, statistically, when adjusted for population sizes in the US. That's part of the narrative that is a bit backwards and what you may not understand. Shows like this repeat a myth that white men are doing this stuff at unusual numbers; they aren't. White people in the US are statistically less violent, less religious, commit fewer hate crimes, they're more in shape, and less extreme on nearly all fronts than their counterparts.
Which is fine. I don't care about much of that, but, most normal people are getting annoyed that myths are repeated in TV shows this often, confusing the more easily confused percent of the population, like yourself. It seems as if you support pushing this narrative, especially when you spend this much time defending the TV show.

My b I didn't mean to come off hard like a doo doo head outta the gate.
Lol bro we can sit here and talk about statistics but it doesn't change anything. It's just what they'd decided to make into a small subplot for an episode. There's a million shows about black people killing eachother in the hood too.
It's fiction.
Idk bro the point is to detach yourself from reality a bit, it's a show about superheroes.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

All good.
The point is that this isn't simply a white guy shooting someone, it's the narrative behind it. The narrative that some on the left keep trying to push is that white people are so much more prone to extremism, bigotry, racism, you name it, and that they're a problem to be solved.
Scenes like this reinforce that false narrative, and it's most often done by a writer who WANTS to reinforce that narrative because of a bias they have. They want people to think that.
Remove the subtle narrative pushing and I have no problem with the scene. You don't see narratives against black people in movies almost ever in the last 15+ years, but you constantly see a negative narrative about white guys. It gets old.

the scene you're posting is from the main series "The Boys", the thread is about a new spin-off series "Gen V" with only 4 episodes out so far
I've mentioned a few times ITT already that I also noticed quite a few woke elements being shoehorned into "The Boys", especially in the later seasons
but as far as the spin-off "Gen V" is concerned I'm not inclined to call it woke (up to ep.4)+++ miscin' at work crew +++

OK so about the wokeness...
30 seconds into episode 2
The publicist lady from the boys is talking about the incident from episode 1
Someone brings up The gender swapper about joining the seven
She says "oh a bi gender Asian with pronoun ****ery, try selling that to Dallas or fort Lauderdale"
... Here she is saying **** no to a gender pronoun hero... Idk not exactly praising the wokeness?
Idk just sayin... Clearly the writers have some self awarenessSometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I'm surprised they didn't come out with a Season 2 yet. I enjoyed the dark humor. Also surprised and kind of not surprised Seth Rogen is behind some of these projects. Always enjoyed his stuff but then I found out what kind of person he was politically behind the scenes. BIG sad. But everyones free to support whatever they like.
