I'm surprised it isn't. Video games are by far the best bang for your buck out of most hobbies. I usually wait till there's a sale so I wouldn't care anyway

They have been $60 for a long time now right? Of course I prefer it that way, but $70 I wont mind if the game is really something I was looking forward to.

For most games, I will probably wait for prices to go down.

**** no. I'd be even more selective about the games I buy then. As it is the only games I buy on release are major titles that I'm going to put a lot of time into like Battlefield or a sports game. And I don't do it for a sports game unless they're making a major positive change or if I haven't bought one in a few years. With what 2k did adding all those draft classes into the game in 2k19 I'm set for a few years just playing that. And hell now 2k20 is the free game of the month on PS Plus so I'll get that anyways for free.

Well I would probably only buy a game new in the situation where it is something that I am hugely enthusiastic about, and that is it.

Honestly though thanks to DLC most games cost more than $70 these days anyways. The games aren't as fun as they used to be while costing more. I am pretty much done with trying to keep up with the gaming scene, sitting out next gen for a while. Gran Turismo 7 is pretty much the only game that will get me to buy a next gen console and I might just get it for that game and that game only.

For games that are released ever year like sports games, CoD style games, franchises, or any type of primarily multiplayer game? Hell no.


Maybe for a once in a while high end Single Player game, like GoW, Spiderman, etc.

Yea I’d be fine. If they **** off with micro transactions. Tbh things like TW3 shoulda cost 100 bucks. But EA and all those companies can eat my ass, not buying their **** games even if they’re 10 bucks

Inflation's not hit gaming as hard as other day to day things. That said, I'm selective anyway. Only pay full price if it's something I really want.

I buy games when they're $30 anyways. There have been some exceptions this gen but hell I even waiting for TW3 GOTY before getting it.

Most of what you pay for is going to advertising, which in turn is just adding to the noise of the market, causing the need for itself. The increased costs are not necessary.

Nobody understands inflation apparently. Games are cheaper for consumers despite being more costly to make than ever. Absolutely prices should be "raised" aka just adjusted for inflation

That's the thing, I would rather pay 70 today for a 30-40gb+ game today then when I was paying 60 in the 360 and ps3 era for a <10gb game. Seems more worth today for the amount of work that goes into games then again. I still wait for sales these days though.

Games drop in price so quick that i only pay full price on games i think are absolutely amazing and actually want to support the company. Last two i bought at full price have been Borderlands 3 and Doom Eternal .


The only games I am really looking forward to and plan on buying day one at full price are cyberpunk and boulders gate 3.

Content the games used to have prior to microtransactions were all unlocked by beating the games or doing certain events to unlock these items, levels, etc.

now the content is hidden behind a paywall. You buy the base core of the game at $59.99 and then there are other editions of the games sold at higher costs like $99.99 or $129.99 that contain all the DLC and other custom crap that should have been included in the $59.99 price. Even if you buy the $59.99 base game, you have options to pay more after the fact..


i'm down with $69.99 price tag if that including eliminating micro transactions and giving the people back full and finished games

I only pay full price if it's a game I know will be worth it. Anything else can wait. Hell, I buy physical copies from Walmart to save $10 as it is.

Adjusting for inflation isn't greed. Based on inflation games should be priced higher than $70.

Games take a lot more money and time to make now than in the past. The notion that its cheaper to develop games is totally false.

I'll end up spending less overall if they do. The more expensive a game is the less likely I'll impulse buy and if I don't buy at release I wait until it's <$30.
