I wanted to share something training related.
Two years ago, I was pretty much done with lifting. My shoulders (more so the left than the right, but both were pretty shot) had gotten so bad that I couldn't lift through the pain any longer. I struggled to lift an empty bar overhead. My work sets on bench press got to be too painful when I tried to go over 135. Pullups hurt. I messed around with all different types of angles and arm slots on DB presses and had some success on some days, but it never lasted. My kids had started boxing in May of 2017, and I started going with them a month later. I had always been 270-275 since my early 30's, but for most of the year up to that point I had seen very few days below 280. Mainly, I just wanted to get back in some semblance of shape.
At the beginning, I had to train as a southpaw because I couldn't lift my left arm up enough to turn over a decent hook. That's when I went to the youtubez and found this:
This vid changed my life. If you look into this Smashwerx dude, you'll find that he was caught doing something along the lines of doctoring a video that was to be sent in for some Crossfit competition or some shyte, which got him teh banz0rz from the Crossfit powers that be. Also, he sometimes talks on Instagram about how much money he has, which is kinda douchy. However, his rehab/prehab vids are gold.
After about six months of daily work on my shoulders, I started lifting again. I worked my way up slowly and waited for the pain to come back, but it never did.
In June of 2018, I decided to start going to the "strength & conditioning" classes that the boxing coach had before our normal boxing class. I'm not gonna try and pull the wool over your eyes, because I know you mofos will see right through it -- it's basically Crossfit. His gym used to be affiliated, but he got tired of the fees and BS and wanted to get back to focussing on the boxing side. We do the metcon stuff, but his focus is strength through squat variants, presses, and pulls. And, he's a decent Oly lifter, along with another member who did some Oly comps back in the day.
Fast forward to today. I recently matched a PR on the push press from nine years ago. I can bench heavy again with no pain. Deadlift is back up over 500. I actually did a true clean & jerk of 225 the other day.
And I can run a mile in 7:30!
Hope this helps!!11!!1!
EDIT: lmao, kvk'd

The backlash to it at the start mostly depended on how sacred you regarded the flag and how ingrained it was to the men serving. The Nike commercialization didn't help for people that didn't want politics in their games. I didn't really see it as necessarily bothersome though.

I ran into some of this guy's vids awhile back while dealing with some bicep tendinitis. Watched a number of his videos and they seemed pretty knowledgeable to me, though he obviously plays up the hipster/technolingo/crossfit/edgy/smash/cool angle. Have to say that his advice didn't help in my particular situation, but there's also a lot of good food for thought in there. Would probably be an interesting guy to have a beer with and just pick his brain about training related bumps and bruises.

RDL's > Deads for bodybuilding purposes all day long
I really don't care if you do CF/PL/P90x/Bodybuilding/etc......just exercise
Every minority throughout history had been dicked down with no lube since day 1 of this country's "discovery", watching fragile white dudes invent ways to steal the spotlight on being offended is a f**king joke.

If you were famous and believed in a cause, would you not use that fame as a platform to reach as many people as possible? That's kind of the whole point of protest, to get as many people to hear your message right? Sitting alone in your home protesting doesn't really achieve the goal.
What it sounds like you're saying is "These people say things I don't agree with, so they're just whiney celebrities"I don't know either lol

Well nobody is remembering them for it or anything. And it's not really a prospect or anything.
Hollywood liberals are kinda stilted from common folk, but they mainly just get political with concern to human rights issues. I do like how Schwarzenegger bashes GOP policies left and right despite being a Republican his entire career so to speak up to this day. Like he's still in Bush 1's cabinet or something.
The budding strife between the New and old Left is interesting. I don't think I'm learning much from it or anything though.Costco junkfood warrior

Most celebrities be they actors, athletes or whatever, should just keep their mouths shut. I always hate hearing them talk politics, no matter what their stance or opinion. Their opinions are usually disconnected and stupid anyway, not to mention it's not too smart to potentially piss off half your fan base.
They should do their thing, not tell me what to think.☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.

I think the issue stems from the fact that people more and more are realizing that we can shape our country any way we want, not just "that's the way it's always been done". On top of that we are able to see other countries, in real time, making these things work. Yet in our own country there is tremendous pushback against any form of change. So while I realize we have to be realistic (i.e not "free everything for everyone!") there are very realistic changes we can make that people REFUSE to even consider.
Mostly because rich people stand to lose money (i.e prison reform, shifting from fossil fuels, etc.)I don't know either lol

Stock market is strong, housing is strong, jobs are strong, fossil fuel usage and oil prices are down, interest rates are low, the beer selection has never been better. But hey, if some washed up actors, millionaire athletes, politicians, or angry snowflakes on twitter want to pretend it's WWIII, go for it.

I’m sorta right there with you, sorta not.
I’m an average white dude that makes average white dude money. Barring any major life events or catastrophic occurrences, my retirement is fully funded. My kids go to great schools in great neighborhoods and have never faced real adversity. Hell, I have to make up hardships for them to “fight” through just so they can maybe have an inkling what it’s like to struggle.
But having worked where I’ve worked the last seven years, I’ve seen the other side. The gap is huge. Here Lies the Rant

Well we really aren't like other countries in terms of foundation. Half of the voting population works to throttle the domestic governing power of the union. On top of that, the parliamentary system opposite our presidential system has a more effectively diverse structure of representation. I'm of the mind that that plays into the prosperity of the US economic dominance on the global stage, but there's other factors to consider post WWII of course.
Not sure how the new left will pick up steam, but I do think they have their work cut out for them when they get blowback from Pelosi and Feinstein -- who are probably the most hated of the democrats tbf.Costco junkfood warrior

By almost all historical measures, the economy is in a very strong place right now. It's just facts. I'm not giving credit to any particular person, party, or whatever. People who run around saying otherwise (these days typically because they hate Trump or whatever) pretty much invalidate their opinion. Wage growth has been somewhat slow overall, but that's to be expected in a low interest rate environment.
And you'll always be my son, son. Daddy says stop being an angry white man with TDS.☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.

It's an almost sociopathic lack of empathy that makes it impossible, to even attempt to imagine what it's like, for anyone else in this country. "I've got mine so if you can't do the same f*ck you that's your problem"
Is it really that difficult to say "Yeah man, I can't imagine what that's like. Bummer dude"I don't know either lol

I get it. There have always been inequalities and things can always be better. It's fine for everyone to try to improve. Just tired of people screaming the sky is falling and Orange Man Bad and crap after reading three headlines on CNN and making up their minds about "facts" with no due diligence on their opinions.
Pretty sad that with as strong as things are now, people can't build on that and put forth realistic proposals instead of screaming and spitting on each other. Politics and politicians have been racing each other to the bottom and Washington is a complete clown show on both sides.
I hope our boy KVK got out of there for his own sanity.☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.
