I'm in good health, quit smoking a long time ago. Last time I got the flu I got a secondary infection and the mucus glued about half of my right bottom lung together. It sucked.
Now I get the vaccine, they organise it once a year free at work anyway, it'd be silly not to do it."A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand."

1) I have a kid and don't want her to get sick.
2) Even though I've never had any flu-related complications, being out for a week isn't fun.
A needle goes in you, you feel mild pain for an hour or two, and that's it. It isn't like there's a massive tradeoff you are making. When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

Generally speaking, I am pro-vaccine, but I did have a bad reaction to vaccines and have seen others have bad reactions to vaccines. Problems arising (when they do) are usually production issues.
I always seem to get a flu when I get the shot and don't get the flu when I don't take it. I stopped because it didn't seem to do me any good.

I think most people ITT never actually had real influenza. It‘s not the ‚flu‘, it‘s a serious disease which puts you down two weeks minimum. Unless you get tamiflu (from evil big pharma) within 48h which makes it go away within a few days.

CDC disagrees... 3-4 days for most people plus the 24 hour post fever day.

I personally get the flu vaccine because a pharmacy comes into work, though I believe it is mostly worthless (as it is only effective if they guess right). Other diseases are more worrisome.
My "doctor" is an anti-vaxer and anti-floride. If she wasn't doing such a good job with my hormone management I would have left immediately.
You never leave your moms basement thus don't come into contact with people...
Realty though luck, or you don't come into contact with people. The flu shot sucks as a vaccine, but (probable) worst case is that it does nothing.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

fking lol the misc never ceases to amaze me. people against vaccinations are scum and should be chastised for it
lol actually watching. "i couldn't move from the neck down, but I shake in my sleep and have foot drop." "they did a blood test (prob cpk) and said my muscles were breaking down." lol which is it, are you paralyzed or do you move in your sleep or do you have rhabdo-like muscle deterioration which presents with tons of pain and renal failure - not to mention 24 days post admission with a cpk of 900? would have her on dialysis(not that anything she said was valid) or death lol. oh and they never have any actual paperwork to back up their claims. I was paralyzed and couldn't feel from the lower back down for 4 years post, but i relearned to walk after i got out of the hospital with rehab. christ this is bad.Last edited by r0bo; 03-12-2019 at 03:03 PM.

Unfortunately anecdotal stories have almost no value when thinking about the general population. The flu shot only has 40-60% effectiveness in the years when they get the strains right. It is much lower when they do not. When discussing whether to compel people to get vaccinated the flu shot shouldn't be part of that discussion IMO. That kind of drastic action should be reserved for deadly and debilitating diseases.

All of this.
I've not gotten a flu shot in over 20 years, despite the last flu(s)? I caught which had me bedridden for 4 days. Twice. I take the calculated risk. To be fair about my "process" I'm around a lot of kids and adults on the daily, so I "believe" I have a good immune system since I get a little bit of everything in daily contact. I could be wrong and just have gotten lucky, I'm not sure to be completely honest. I do know that since skipping the shot each year, no difference every single year. When I get a bit older, not as active, and not around so many people I'll start taking the shot, but I'm still on the fence since they miss the virus every few years. On those years everyone else is on my "process" I repped @ Maestro
earlier because I never thought of it, but I rely a lot on herd immunity.Ndtha ton eda yi'mg oIng tofi

Deep: "On second thought, I don't play golf with broads. You're such a scumbag that I'd be much more inclined to just slap the chit out of you."
z4: "MMA match works, too. So when are you available this month?
Deep: "I won't subject myself to being in the presence of a scumbag."
