Lots of people died during that period, but here and now, white Europeans are the most resilient race on the planet, largely (or wholly) due to this period in history. It was so disgusting and filthy and disease was so rampant that those able to tough it out ended up passing that resilience along.
But, to your point, yes you are absolutely correct. Leeches, thoughts and prayers didn't do the trick. While the human immune system is a pretty powerful thing and I do think it should be left to deal with many problems (strep throat? Wtf, deal with it and get tougher in the process), there are plenty of diseases that are going to have a high fatality rate and those should be dealt with using modern medicine and/or vaccination. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

They're free if you show proof of insurance. I'm sure you have to fill out forms to get a shot, so they can keep immunization records on file. If not, you still have to check in at the kiosk. I'm guessing there's a zero chance they give out shots without having a record of it. I got my dad one at a walgreens or something and he had to fill out a consent form, iirc.

I dont know what the point of bringing up race in this thread is.
The same can be said for the Spanish flu, polio, Pertussis, Measles, Diptheria etc.
Do people in this thread know just how many kids were dying of Diptheria and Pertussis back then?
An anecdotal side effect story (which most forms of medicine east or west have) while unfortunate does not discredit millions of cases of successes.
See smallpox and how its basically gone from the world due to careful procedures to limit it.
One of the only good reports I've seen from VICE showed how the last place on earth with polio is the Islamist strongholds of Pakistan and how women who try to vaccinate kids there get killed by Islamist dudes who think the polio vaccine is an Israeli ploy to poison Muslims. This the type of people antivaxxers associate themselves with

- You get the flu, you are sick as a dog, your body makes flu antibodies, next time you come in contact with that strain of flu you don't get sick.
- You get the flu vaccine, you don't get sick at all, your body has the flu antibodies, next time you come in contact with that strain of flu you don't get sick.
In other words, you get the same exact result, one by getting sick, the other by not getting sick. But people who get it done by not getting sick are the stupid ones. Cool story bro.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

Wait till you actually get a serious disease. I know of noone who doesn‘t come crawling and begging for help to the doctors and evil big pharma when their life depends on it. Guess what happens to the few idiots that don‘t. They die.

This is my biggest reason for getting one, as well as having a young son who would obviously not fare as well as I would if he were to get the flu. Is there still a chance either of us could get it? Yeah, but I'd still rather lower that risk.
It's unfortunate what happened, but the Vaccine Injury Fund exists for cases like this. I know that's nothing compared to permanent paralysis, but the risks are there and available for everyone to research.

Except thats not how the immune system or vaccines work at all...The most vaccines will give you attenuated or pieces of the virus/bacteria in question. This allows your immune system to recognize the disease and will be able to produce antibodies. Literally the exact same thing being infected with the flu will cause your immune system to do without the side effects of having the flu.
There is no such thing as exercise for your immune system._____________

Last year, there was a woman who was supposedly paralyze by a flu vaccine.
Turns out, she was faking it and anti-vax groups were made to look like the idiots they are. I bet this woman is faking, too. There's no ingredients in a flu vaccine that could cause paralysis.
Anti-vaxers and those who share their propaganda should be prosecuted for creating public health hazards{Misc Fisherman Crew}

The pertussis portion of the DPT vaccine did injure/kill quite a few kids.
The firm I work for at one time had handled more vaccine injury claims in US Claims Court than any other firm in the nation.

LOL @ this garbage.
Luckily more states are realizing the threat of unvaccinated lunatics walking around and are taking aggressive action to counter this trend.

It is true that the flu shot isn't 100% effective, but even in cases where it isn't, it significantly reduces the intensity of the flu. I've been getting it for the last 4-5 years and haven't had the flu in that period (used to occasionally get the flu before then). When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.
