35 x12
Single leg press (because I was too lazy to load up all those plates )
90 x12
90 x12
90 x12
Lying leg curl
50 x10
50 x10
Tri cable rope pressdown
65 x15
65 x15
65 x11
Decline russian twist with sit up
10 x12
10 x12
10 x12
And that's it! I feel like I need those single leg presses in my life right now because I can really feel how much weaker the adductor muscle is on my left side when I concentrate on keeping my knee over my toes. I can really feel my abductors and glutes fire when I use the hip circle and it's just nice to have because resistance bands ride up and you don't have to worry about tieing it in the same spot or anything like that. I think doing working sets with it would be rather difficult.
I'm probably going to eat some lunch now because I'm starving, study some more chapters for my ACE certification, do some food prep, and sit in the sauna on the rest of my day off!

Nice workout! A lot of squats, and benching! So sounds like you're liking the hip circle? Sounds burny! Do you think it'd also benefit your sumo deadlifting when using it to warm up? In that it'd warm up the muscles that get worked in that lift.

Fingers crossed
A guy who works the mid daylight shift in my department put in his two weeks notice yesterday. This means that I would be the next person in line to take over his shift and I would be back to a 9-5:30 shift! I am praying that they let me have this shift back but knowing them they will give it to a new person leaving me with this crappy night shift. So fingers crossed that I get back to a normal shift!
*Physique Update*
I've been getting compliments lately! People say it looks like I'm losing weight. There was a guy at work who left and came back. I worked with him back in 2013 before my entire fitness journey began. He said that my tattoo was the only way he recognized me and that I look like I lost a lot of weight and look great. Also in the break room I put some containers out on the table for my snack and a guy asked if I "weigh my food out" I told him I do and that I count my macros and he said "oh it looks like you do!"
Sooo I have been around 151-152 lbs. When I look in the mirror I want to cut so bad (I don't think that will ever change) but I know it won't be worth it. I've been consistently eating 2250 calories a day. It is my TOM but I took my measurements today and I lost .5" off my thighs, gained .5" on my hips (booty gains maybe?) and lost .5" on my waist and gained 1" on my chest (wow! could be back muscles growing too) so something is going on here. I am not sure if my calories are more maintenance or very slow bulk. I'm not gaining tons of weight--my weight seems stable or very very slooowly increasing but my measurements are improving. I think I'm just going to keep on doing what I'm doing and if I stop seeing improvements maybe bump up my calories just a bit.
When I ended my last cut in April 2016 I weighed 144 lbs at my lowest weight so I have put on 8 pounds in 9 months. I think the initial 3-5 lbs was just from the calorie/carb increase and I have probably only gained about 1-2 lbs of actual muscle which doesn't really show much on a 5'6" frame. I need to keep going!Last edited by mtnliones5; 02-03-2017 at 07:22 AM.

New Upper/Lower Split
I've been on a 3x/week full body workout since last May so I decided to switch things up. This is very similar to Simply Shredded but I tweaked a couple things. I took out calf work and added glute work, I made one of the ab exercises a rotational one and changed one of the bicep exercises to a elbow behind the shoulder ie. incline curls since they had both days as elbows directly underneath doing db curls or cable curls. Some exercises I changed to unilateral ones as well. I am in a 8-12 rep range right now with a 60 sec rest.
Last night's workout
BB bench press
85 x12
85 x12
85 x8
One arm dumbbell row
37.5 x12
37.5 x10
37.5 x10
Db shoulder press
25s x10
25s x10
25s x8
BB lying tricept ext
35 x12
35 x12
35 x12
Db alt bicep curl
22.5s x9
22.5s x8
22.5s x8
I did not sleep very well last night and I feel kind of crappy today but still managed to knockout this leg workout although I was completely gassed by the time I go to abs...I might put abs with upper body instead.

10 x6 lol I was so tired!
I found that if I pretend I am still wearing the hip circle and do NOT look at my knee as I squat and just look straight ahead that the knee doesn't tend to cave in! I still quit doing reps when it started to feel like it was caving in. I also found out doing single leg curls that my leg on the cave in side has stronger hamstrings than the non-caving in leg! I thought it would be opposite unless my hamstrings are overcompensating for some weakness of something else in that leg.Beast in training...

Yay for all the compliments, and the tape measure results. Definitely sounds like booty gains if your thighs are slimming, but your hip measurement is growing.
Lol at 1-2lbs of muscle not showing much on a 5'6" frame, girl be glad you don't know my pain. I'm hoping one of these times I manage to figure out a nice slow (or at least moderate) gain rate so I can build more during my bulks without averaging an extra lb of fat a month (I tend to avg 3lbs/month, so that's 1lb on the regular fat gains). A slower, longer bulk is definitely better.PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

I've been weighing myself every morning (or just about) and now I'm more like 150 lbs so it seems I stopped gaining--and am actually losing! I'm just going to keep my eye on it because they have been working me to death at work doing physical labor so it's possible I'm not eating enough to overcompensate for that plus working out. It's kind of tricky right now because I switched departments right after I upped my calories so I've gone from just standing in place to walking all over and lifting heavy things all day.
If I could gain one pound per month every month this year I would be happy. I want it to be really slow otherwise I gain fat and I don't want a huge mess to clean up when I'm done. But now that's I've lost like two lbs it needs to be a little over a pound a month! It just sucks that when I want to lose weight nothing happens and when I want to gain I lose lol. But I know when I cut it also has to be slow with lots of breaks or I just stop losing.
On the bright side at least the taller you are the more calories you require? I'm not sure what's better though getting to eat more or having less muscle space to fill out on legs?Beast in training...

Lol, my thoughts exactly. If I at least topped out at the 2lb/month I'd feel ok, but that extra lb a month is a huge difference when it comes to taking it off. Going to aim for 1lb leaving plenty of calories for the days I'm higher (which I'll still try to manage better) over the month, and see how it goes. If it's still a bit high, I'll reign in those other days more.
Gotta finish up my current cut though, even with the plan to find my accurate TDEE, and slow down the bulk more, I want to have plenty of room to grow no matter what happens. One thing at a time.

Today's workout!
Incline BB bench press
70 x12
70 x12
70 x12
One arm cable pulldown
40 x8
40 x8
40 x8
BB seated shoulder press
50 x10

Cable triceps pushdown
65 x12

Cable rope face pull
25 x12
25 x12
25 x12
Incline alt db curl
10s x12
12s x12
12s x12
I really liked this workout although my shoulders got pretty tired from incline bench and shoulder press. Simply shredded had db side lat raises but I know if I don't press at least 2x per week my shoulder strength tanks! I kind of just added the face pulls because I really don't do much for my rear delts and I don't want imbalances. I went kind of light on a lot of things because I just haven't done a lot of these exercises in awhile. The incline db curl is so hard and burns so bad even with light weights. The 10s were a little too light though!Beast in training...

If I had the option I'd rather do face pulls than lat raises, but my posture sucks, so I can always use the rear delt work. Would also prefer them over rear delt flyes, omg I hate them.
I do some lat raises, but not as a main lift, or even much of them. OHPs on heavy days, DB shoulder press on light days, and one of those days (can't remember which at the moment lol) is a light lat raise AMRAP (just to burn them out a bit more).PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

I escaped!
I went back to the bible study the other night. This would be my second time going. I never went to the church service because I'm just too tired in the morning to go before work. In this last study they taught me some things that I just felt uncomfortable with and went against my own faith. I had to watch a video that boasted about all the volunteer work this worldwide church does. It showed the church starting out in South Korea (and it didn't seem like it was that long ago). This seemed really strange to me.
Thank God the weather was bad that night. I was asked if I wanted to watch another video but I used the weather as an excuse to get out of there! I told them I should head home since it was snowing and I live on top of a big hill. I got my stuff and left and went home. I didn't say anything about it to my boyfriend.
The next morning I researched this church since they said the FULL name of it in the video and it's pretty much a cult! It started out like a very normal Christian church the first time I went but when they started teaching me about a "mother God" I knew it wasn't right for me. I researched more and pretty much they believe that some dead Korean guy is the second coming of Christ and he failed to predict the end of the world twice. In services they make women wear veils (I can't confirm or deny since I never attended their service). There were videos of ex members saying how the church ripped their families and friendships apart, forced marriage, coerced abortions and for people to sell their homes and vehicles and give money to the church because the end of the world is coming! Holy heck!
I told my boyfriend about it and how I'm never going back there and we should just go to his church together from now on! So yes I can honestly say that in my lifetime I escaped a cult!
It's just a shame that I finally put myself out there and put myself in a social situation and then this happens! Oh well I only went twice and didn't end up brainwashed! But what good came out of it is now my boyfriend and I are going to start attending church. I think God made it snow a lot that night so I could get out of there and go to the right place!Beast in training...

Dips irritate my shoulders too.
Holy chit, that's crazy. I read a book about a teen who was lured into a cult, and that started as a Bible study too. >.< They need to get some better tricks. Gotta slowly brainwash them, can't just jump out with Korean Jesus right away. Did they do the love bombing too? Like where they're super friendly (like more so than average), and act really interested in you to lure you in more?
Hopefully his church has a Bible study that is more to your faith, and liking. At least you got a cool story out of it.

They didn't come out with the Korean Jesus I feel like that was saved for the next study lol. I feel like they would slowly ease you into the weirdness. If they talked about Korean Jesus in the first study I feel everyone would be too weirded out to come back.
What's worse is that I made plans to go to this study and then an hour later my friend texted me "dinner tonight?" and I said no that I made plans already with someone I keep blowing off (since I kept blowing off the service). Yesterday I was telling her boyfriend who also goes on these dinner dates with us about the cult and he was like, "You ditched us to go to a cult meeting?!" lol we were both laughing so hard it's such a funny story! I feel like this weird stuff only happens to me and that I attract it somehow!Beast in training...

Side Planks
1 min each side
Sumo DL just felt kind of meh. I think it's hard to do this late after work and I'm still struggling trying to get my shoulders over the bar instead of in front.
Word is from one of the managers at work that I am going to be going back to the daylight shift! Instead of 9-5:30 it's going to be 8-4:30 which is even better! That means if I go to the gym after work I will get home at about 6 ish. I am going to be officially told this on Friday so the manager that told me this told me to act surprised! This will probably be after another month of being on nights.
A girl I work with is training for a marathon and has been having trouble running outside because of the snow/cold. She doesn't have a gym membership so I told her to check out the gym next to my work if she just wants use of a treadmil that gym should be fine. It's also 24/7 with a key tag. She looked at it online and on their website you can do a virtual tour. I was really surprised to find out they have a bench press and two squat racks! It looked really nice and it's so close to work that now I'm considering joining! It really depends on the price though I know I get a discount through work so that may help a little. The only thing I would miss would be a plate loaded leg press. I put in an inquiry and may try a free pass so we'll see!Beast in training...

Of course. It wouldn't be the adventures of mtnlioness without the adventures. Besides, the worst that came out of this was a really interesting story to tell. That's not a bad outcome.
Deadlifts wear me out in a 3-5 rep range, I couldn't imagine pulling that kind of volume after working all day. O.O

They wear me out too and the weight I'm using is really light but I'm doing such high volume just to get more used to the movement.
They have a leg press it's just a horizontal one that has a pulley and moves a weight stack up and down. They don't have the 45 degree angle one with a sled that is plate loaded.Beast in training...

I got home from work and the gym on Monday night at 10:45 PM and I was surprised to find my boyfriend still up. He told me that he just had to go into the office really quick for 20 mins and he was going to have the day off to spend with me for Valentines's day and he has a full day planned for us! Yay! I woke up, ate breakfast and went to the gym to do this workout:

So for Valentine's Day I went to my boyfriends office for the first time which was kind of boring but then his boss came in who has a Jeep Wrangler so we talked about the Jeep life for a bit while my boyfriend finished up. Then we went out to lunch for sushi. OMG worst experience with sushi ever! I ordered a lunch combo and got a salad as a side and I was so disappointed when they brought a plate of 6 little pieces of sushi for like $18! They brought the same amount out for my boyfriend but his was $20! We were still hungry so we ordered another roll. It was decent sushi but definitely over priced. The bill was $70! I feel like we got robbed!
After lunch we went to the sporting goods store to go get some targets for the shooting range. At the shooting range I shot two different 9mm handguns as well as a 40 caliper handgun. I hit the target many times and hit the bullseye once! I loved it so much but we ran out of ammo for the guns. Then I let my boyfriend shoot some of his rifles. I have a really hard time with rifles because I am right handed and left eye dominant.
We left the range and went to the grocery store to get steak and lobster for dinner. I also found out they started carrying Kodiak protein pancakes so I grabbed a box (never had them before). Then we went to Sams club to get some bulk stuff and we picked up a chocolate bundt cake that looked really good. We went home and cooked the surf and turf dinner and had cake for dessert. I didn't track anything all day besides my usual breakfast but it was a really fun day and I enjoyed myself.
Now I'm really considering buying myself a handgun because I loved going to the range so much! I've been researching what to get and I'm going to start saving up money.Beast in training...

Girls being b!tches on social media
I made a post on ******** about lifting that said "the myth what women shouldn't lift heavy is only perpetuated by women who fear work and men who fear women." It was a picture of that quote and of course my boyfriend commented stuff like "I fear you sometimes" and some other people commented some silly stuff.
Then this girl I work with tries to call me out on ******** for something I didn't even do. She commented "Like the time when I yelled at a customer and you hid behind the desk scared, lol! I'm going to pretend I'm the scary one" First of all, I didn't "hide behind the desk" I showed up down the aisle to help!
Then I posted a picture of the target I shot on our Valentine's Day shooting range date and captioned "Best Valentine's Day card ever!" It was supposed to be a fun, positive post but of course she had to comment, "Nice grouping but looks like you need a little more practice, lol!" WTF!? Am I the only one who sees that this girl is trying to take me down on social media and constantly **** on my posts? Jealous much?
I totally would have said something chitty right back to her but I have to work with her so I took the passive aggressive approach and posted another picture of a quote that says, "People will always talk about you, especially when they envy the life you live. Let them. You affected their lives, they didn't affect yours."
Other people I showed who know this girl don't think she was being negative but I totally think she is. If you can't post something nice then just keep scrolling! There's enough negative posts about politics and whatnot on ******** right now and I was proud of my day at the range and still am. I don't know if I'm taking it the wrong way or reading it the wrong way but it just seems like it's turning a positive post into something negative and trying to point out flaws or weaknesses.Beast in training...

New gym adventure
I went to the new gym today and signed up for a free 14 day trial. It's very clean and an easier drive from my house. I just have to get onto the highway rather than drive through back roads with traffic and lights. It's only 5 minutes from my work.
Everyone was very friendly and the gym seemed really clean and all the equipment was new. I showed up around 11 AM and there was hardly anyone there although that is a slow time for gyms. It's about $7 more than the gym I go to now even with my discount but if I can convince my boyfriend to join it's only $5 more. I think he would like this gym better since there aren't as many huge muscly dudes grunting. It is also on his way home from work as well.
They have two power racks and one smith machine. This is the only thing that concerns me is those power racks being in constant use when I need to use them. They have safety bars on them and a bench that pulls into them that will lay flat or incline. Now I can bench press with safeties which makes me more comfortable. (I suppose you could drag a bench alllll the way across my old gym and put it in the power rack but that would be a pain and no one ever did that).
They did have a plate loaded leg press after all--it was just off in the corner and I couldn't see it in the pictures. They pretty much had all the equipment I would need. The only thing they didn't have was a hack squat machine (I hardly ever used one anyway) a GHR, and 22.5 lb dumbbells and I didn't see any microplates for dumbbells. Overall those things are not that important. Probably the most important are the microplates but I suppose I could just buy a pair for dumbbells.
I'm not sure yet if I'm going to join I'm on the fence. It costs more but I would save some time and gas. I'm going to try going at different times to see how busy it gets. If I do get the daylight shift I would be going at peak times.

The incline bench at my old gym is at a set incline. I think I set the incline a little too high than what I'm used to and loaded up 75 lbs and it was waaaaay hard. I set the incline down one notch and it felt more like what I was used to but I used caution during this work out since everything was new--especially on the cable exercises.Beast in training...

Funky. I've only seen the angled ones, and vertical ones where you load plates right on the pegs on top.
Looking into them now, that would be weird. I see one that has the cable, but still lets you load plates (like those plate weighted LPD things, but legs). One has you lay down like you're doing leg press lying hack squats, lol. Weird equipment out there.
Sorry the sushi was bad, but sounds like you had fun overall. My boyfriend's brother in law has a few handguns we were able to shoot off. They're pretty fun, even if I can't hit the barn side of a broad, lol.
Sounds super bitchy to me, calling someone out on FB comments (particularly when it's BS) is always a bitch move. Do you have to have her on there, or can you just delete her? Or would that cause work drama?PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs
