BTW - I can't remember if this was dumbbell buddy but once you are at the "set" price you can add individual plates for "set pricing" by getting a custom quote. Makes them A LOT more affordable rather than just buying stock single price 45s. I was looking at this a while back. Ultimately decided not to pull the trigger which is the story of my life and revolvers - went plain generic iron and have my higher end Rogue bumpers for more precise work.

Thats a whole other ball game. Want to see me go from 0-pissed? Show up at a CL transaction with something other than what was in ad's photo.
Wouldn't tell you how to spend you money either. What did you tell me a while back, missed investment capital or something similar?
Of course the $144 could go toward another set of 45's.....who wants to look at 315 with 35's and 10's????SQ 475# 5/26/17 wraps

Second question, would $2/lb for Ivanko urethane dumbbells be a good deal? The set was meant for a commercial gym so there was the gyms logo on each bell that has been removed so the ivanko branding and numbering are on the bottom half of the bell. The set was not used though maybe they went out of business or something. It's a lot to spend over $6k on 5-125lb pairs of dumbbells but retail from dumbbell buddy is $17k. Thoughts?

Rare stamped Ivanko weights
I have a couple of Standard Olympic 25lbs plates with the Ivanko stamp on the back. Was told by Ivanko that they were made in the 1960's. In great shape. What do you think they're worth?ivanko25.3.jpgivanko25.2.jpgivanko weigts1.jpg

We had a good conversation about this in the Vintage thread just a few months ago. At some point BFCO changed to the skinny script style because some wanted to sell plates that weren't so obviously someone else's production. If you look at the ads for IRONMAN in 1980 you'll notice the plates changed to skinny script by the June issue. Jubinville in Holyoke, Mass was also a big purchaser of BFCO/Skinny Script plates.

Since I can't talk Domicron into sending me his OB-84, I had to pick up an OBX-20KG today.
Worried about deadlifting with it. The un-knurled area on the OBX is only 13" vs. 17" on my TPB. The OBX is going to draw blood.

Help from the Ivanko Crew
Never posted in here but I have a question for the members of the Ivanko crew. I've been collecting Ivanko plates for the past year, getting them for roughly $0.30-0.5/lb. I have amassed the following plates:
2-100 lb (Pre-Ivanko stamp)
8-45 lb (with stamp)
4-45 lb (Pre-Ivanko stamp)
2-35
4-25
4-10
4-5
2-2.5
and I just picked up an Ivanko barbell (probably 20 years old) for a steal.
I've since realized that I do not need so much weight for myself. I was thinking to sell the 4-45 lb (pre-Ivanko stamp) plates. However, something is telling me that is a horrible idea since these plates are around 30 years old and will never be reproduced.
My question then lies, do I sell the pre-stamp Ivankos or do I sell the ones that say Ivanko on them? Just to fill in, the Ivanko branded plates are M-series.
Advice would be great!!! Thank you.

12 45 pound plates isn't all that much. honestly if you have the space then you should just buy another weight tree or two and set them aside in case you decide later you want to get some machines (if you got a leg press, for instance, those plates would come in handy.
unless you need the money or the space, i don't see a reason to sell. if you had dozens of them sitting around, that would be more reasonableDomicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

I was the other guy at the out of business gym where we pulled the unmarked Ivankos from. Here are some cell phone pics of the haul: imgur. com/a/tm6Tq (can't post links yet, remove space)
Having done more research, I think these are probably from the late 70s, early 80s and in fantastic condition for being that old. I don't know what the finish is (almost looks and feels like there is none), but personally I think it looks a lot better than the newer OMs after the greenish hammertone starts getting chipped away on the lip and back.
I will probably keep most of mine, but might look to get rid of some of the smaller plates and 100s.
Happy to answer any questions people may have about the unbranded Ivankos as well. The holes are all machined and the casting is pretty smooth. I think there are machining marks on the back part of the lip (can sort of see in the pics). These particular plates, which look like they were all bought at the same time, do not have any Ivanko branding or m series engraving on the back leading me to believe they are the oldest version of them (can anyone confirm?). They also have no other engravings on the hubs (although I did see 1 5# with a "T"). The 100s have "B" engraved under the "Standard".
I really wish they had the 25s to complete the set. Wonder what happened to them. If anyone out there has matching 25s maybe we can work out a swap. I'd also be interested in swapping for revolvers as I have been looking for a while now and am considering buying new (see posts above).

Does anyone know when approximately Ivanko started the triple ring marks on the OB-20KG or can help me identify the bars? I have 2 of them from the gym. They both have Ivanko 20KG stamps on the end caps, powerlifting ring marks, no center knurl and seems to be a black oxide or zinc finish. The knurling feels great and the sleeves spin pretty well despite the age.
