Clogged the toilet at work yesterday. It was on one of those strong commercial flushes too. Gotta be a PR.

Oh yeah, he's amazingly strong.
The IPF certainly doesn't like his style of benching. He would likely get whites and press calls in other federations, but not the IPF. It does bring into question why he continues to lift this way, and expect to hit the same numbers in competition without training the way the IPF wants him to bench.
I also wish he could learn to use a shirt a little better. It's amazing to me what Sumner can do in a shirt compared to Smulter.More weight is always more impressive... ShortDave

This is how at it was at the Michigan APF State meet last year.
Had 140+ registered lifters, with well over 50% of guys 220+ totaling well under a lot of the 181-198 guys.
Meet was horrible.
Everyone lifted on the same day.
I believe it was 6 flights if I remember correctly. Kicked off at 9am. At 1am the next morning the SHW classes were just kicking off first attempt deadlifts when I finally gave up hope and left.USMC (2009-2013)

Dead serious. It was terrible.
We averaged like 4 hours between events or some ****.
They didn't cap the event because they never had a turnout that required two days of lifting and ended up with just a stupid amount of entries and had to have everyone lift same day.
Plus it was same day weigh in so most people were at the venue for well over 20 hours.
I think the final pull was around 2:30am or some chit.USMC (2009-2013)

Speaking of stupid meet holders, my gf has a meet this weekend with the CPF (AWPC/WPC). Now we all know the WPC uses monolifts at all meets unless specified months before the meet. The meet holder emailed everyone 2 days ago that we will be using squat stands in the warmup room and on the platform because "there are zero equipped lifters and 50 amateur lifters who won't notice the difference". The only reason he's doing that is because he's trying to pull off a 1-day 2-platform meet and he can't afford having two mono's on the platform and two in the warmup room (WPC rule is to have exact same equipment for the platform and warmup). Then why not tell everyone that ahead of time? I'm sure most lifters won't give a fuk because no one really trains in a mono, but this guy knew all along in order to have a 2-platform meet he'd need 4 mono's. Sounds like to me he's trying to pull this shady shiit so he'd get as many entries as possible up front and then not tell anyone until 1 week out and he won't give refunds. Either way, I hope no one trained in a mono specifically for this meet, because I did before I decided to drop out due to an injury. Now I'm glad I got injured or else I would've been squatting in a mono until 1 week out.

Agreed. Same goes for Kirill. Hoornstra at least stops the bar on his chest even though he uses that sink method.
It seems like guys like Derstine, Kirill, Spoto etc. who bench with a more controlled style in training (even when it's touch and go) translate their strength better to meets. Guys that bench with that sink and heave method can get rocked by a slow(er) press command.More weight is always more impressive... ShortDave

You forgot ass flying off the bench lol.
It seems more like Smulter just enjoys what he does, given the lack of shirt training and screwing around with arm wrestling. Maybe Sumner jumping onto his level will motivate him to take it up a notch, although it'd be better if they were head to head next week.

So I've gained about 6lbs since the last meet (224 -> 230) and now my squat suit feels insanely tight. Never would've thought 6lbs would make such a big difference. We could barely get the straps over my shoulders and it was impossible to breathe with them up.

Off the top of my head, there probably aren't much more than 10 USAPL guys in MN with a 400+ wilks. We also have a few guys in the top 5 for their weight classes in the country, so not exactly weak!
I want to say it's something like 330 to qualify for the Minnesota Senior State Championships.
