Ok 1st ?? Abs..for last 6 weeks my work out plan has been gym 5 days a week...again Im starting to do this.
I do 1 day heavy weight...10 reps 3 sets of 2 ab mechines and the cruch mechine...on other day do 3 sets of 50 with little or no weight.
read that abs should be worked every day...then next artical says NOT to work abs every day...u know the deal..depends on what u read.
Soo what do u all do or think?? every day...one day work them one day rest??
Same with lower back I do the Roman chair and mechine version...press back on the arm with your back...every day...do the same as abs..1 day low reps high weight..next day high reps low weight.
any recomendations?
I do a lot of physical work in my job...but even like to day jackhammering up a few feet of concret slab to fix a drain problem I do not count as exercise.
Thanks All.

What exactly is your goal at this point? Abs every other day sounds crazy to me... If you're trying to lose a 'spare tire', or weight in general, no amount of ab work is going to do that. Cardio & an evenly balanced weight routine, possibly even full body workouts may be a better option.

"You know, I think you may have noticed that Senator Obama's supporters have been saying some pretty nasty things about Western Pennsylvania lately. And you know, I couldn't agree with them more. I couldn't disagree with you. I couldn't agree with you more than the fact that Western Pennsylvania is the most patriotic, most god-loving, most, most patriotic part of America, and this is a great part of the country."

I currently do abs once a week and that seems to be enough to strengthen them so that I don't injure myself while doing other exercises like squats and barbell presses. When I do abs, I'm usually sore the next day and sometimes the day after that. So, for me, working abs 2x a week would be about as much as I could tollerate. Your milage may vary depending on how intense your workouts are.
If ever I decide to have 6-pack abs, all I'd have to do is lose about half of my body fat.

I normally will do them 2 times a week. Usually just crunches, leg lifts and regular sit ups. Once in a while I will do the weighted machine or rope pull downs. BUT when I am dieting and preping for a show I will do them 5 times a week.
Every day counts.

I usually do 400-500 situps on my dumbell bench, every morning with my first two cups of coffee.
That's all the abs I do, except hitting them in secondary lifts."When we were children, we used to think that when we grew up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability, to be alive is to be vulnerable." Madeleine L'Engle

I work mine 2 or 3 times a week, obliques the same. Sometimes I do incline crunches, sometimes regular crunches with my feet up on a ball. Sometimes I hold a medicine ball when doing the crunches, other times not, sometimes I do leg lifts, or "flutter kicks" or planks. Just depends on my mood that day. Generally I do about 100 reps total of whatever exercise I chose that day.
