It's good to see you posting in here again. LOL, your "bad days" look a little different than mine though.
I've been saying this lately, I wish strongman had an over 45 yr old under 150# class. I have the strongman attitude trapped in a runners body.Last edited by storm1507; 07-13-2011 at 08:30 AM.

Oh hell yeah, something new to try. I am going to have to give this a shot! I learned how to Firebreathe when I did the Guiness World Records TV show in Italy last April/May and found out that came really natural to me. The teaching me said the world record height (which is the only "real" record in the fire world...) is 8.05 meters (~25 feet). My first time messing around I hit 20+ feet. He told me I have to try for that record or else he waisted his time teaching me anything... haha.
I think they should have a 175 lb class for Master's (40+). They probably won't have a lot in the smaller comps but if you qualify for Nationals there will probably be one. Check out nastrongman.com and look up the rules. They'll be on that site somewhere.
I wrote this in another thread but it explains what happened...
Edit:
For those wondering about my weight; I definitely tried to lean out the past 2 years and make myself more efficient but the reason I got SO lean and couldn't gain my weight back (I was 268 lbs in the finals at WSM last year!!) was that I had picked up a parasite during one of my trips overseas. It could have been Japan, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, or Hungary the doc thinks but anyway I have gotten rid of that thing now and my weight hit 300 lbs(!) for the first time in almost 2 years yesterday. Of course the doctors almost killed me in the process because they gave me too much of the stuff that kills parasites and I had to endure absolute hell for 10 days (thought my organs were on fire and my skin actually peeled off!) but I am good to go now!!!! At the worst point I actually weighed 251 lbs! That means I'm nearly up 50 lbs in a couple monthsLast edited by 81Ort; 07-21-2011 at 09:38 AM.

I didn't feel great going into this competition... My last couple workouts left something to be desired to say the least.
I felt like crap this whole competition and ended up 6th. This is my worst placing in years. My ankle is what really held me back. The car wheel barrow put a ton of strain on it and I just couldn't put enough torque into moving the car fast enough but i still got top 5 in this event. It was the yoke/sandbag load medley that really killed my overall placing. I dropped the yoke 3 times then when I crossed the finish line the metal plate with the sponsor's label broke off and hit me in the back of the head... add insult to injury I guess, haha.
Anyway I came back and won the Circus Dumbbell and stones which at least let me end on a high note.
6th place overall (failure)"If you want to be world class you must first act world class"

Thanks for the info man. I'm hoping to gain my strength back and stay under 148# and do a PL meet. We'll see what happens from there.

4/28/11 Thursday
Guinness World Records TV show
Milan, Italy
This was a 6 week season of episodes. Zydrunas was the current world champion so the shows were set up so that 2 "challengers" would face him on 1 event each week. Big Z won every event; no one could beat him. Then on the final week I got picked to go against him on Atlas Stones! I knew I had to be the one to end his winning streak!!
The set was light: 120, 140, 150, 160, 170 kilos to 1.50m
We knew it was going to be a sprint so I think we all went a little too recklessly... The stones were terrible! They literally crumbled in yours arms the whole time you lifted them! Johannes put up a great time but left the door open when he fumbled the 5th stone. I have done a set a little heavier than this in ~12 seconds and I wanted to beat that time so bad but then I realized exactly why Johannes fumbled his last one... I actually fumbled 3 of them! They were so dirty that your tacky was useless after the first stone. Despite all the slipping I was fast enough between the stones, and once I had a grip, loading them that I took the lead. Zydrunas had a pretty good time going but pulled up on the last stone because he tweaked his hamstring (probably from trying to catch a slipping stone).
That was it; I had won and now I nam a Guinness World Record holder!!
5 stones over a 1.50 m bar in 15.8 seconds.
1st place (and broke Zydrunas' winning streak)
I am very happy with this but my ankle is killing me and I really need some time off."If you want to be world class you must first act world class"

I know I haven't written in here for a while but let's just say my training and preparation for WSM wasn't where I wanted it to be... It was good but nbot worth going back and typing it all in. My diet was crap too and I have no excuse for that. I have one of the best diet coaches in the world helping me out and I feel ashamed that I didn't do more with it.
I did however set one personal record on deadlifting- I hit 815x3 with a reset after each rep! I was very happy with this."If you want to be world class you must first act world class"

Travis it was good to see you and your Dad at TSM again. Your Dad is definitely an inspiration after seeing his performance at TSM. If I can do half of what he does when I'm his age, I'll be a happy man.
I didn't have quite the day I wanted, but I know what I need to work on now.http://www.thewarehousegym.net/ - PL/SM gym on the South Side of Houston owned by Dr. Zach McVey
