    Broccoli?

Ok, first time in my life buying vegetables....figured I needed them for my diet. Any vitamins I can take to replace them, let me know.

ANyway, I bought broccoli. How do you eat this stuff? Raw/cold (taking it for part of a meal at work tommorrow)? Do you eat the stem or just the top part?

    thanks

I cut off the heads...leaving a little stem...but not the "trunk" part. I usually steam it plain and eat it with a chicken breast or some tuna. It is also good cold or with a tiny bit of seasoning.

You can also put it in a bowl with some water (not much) and cover it with plastic wrap and stick it in the microwave. It is good this way also.

Thanks. I brought it to work this am, but didn't cook it or anything. Can I just eat it like that raw? This is the first vegetable (other than corn) that I am going to eat , probably in my life, so no matter how I prepare I am going to hate it .

I brought about a cup's worth in my zip lock bag

Try stirfrying your veggies...I usually throw 3 cups of spinach, 1 cup of brocolli and 1 cup cauliflower on the fry pan with 1 tablespoon of safflower oil (for the healthy fats!), brown and serve...sure takes the mundane taste away from raw brocolli. I also don't get the nasty farts I normally do when I eat brocolli raw..give it a shot!

You weren't kidding...... I ate them around noon, and went to work out at 3pm.... farted while pushing up on my leg presses and while doing another machine.... I am glad no one was around at that time.

Today, I am eating them at dinner time, didn't want to let one loose in the gym

    Vinegar doesn't sound too bad.

I always stick them in a tupperware container with a little bit of water, microwave for 2 1/2 minutes, drain the water, then dash with a light layer of garlic salt.

You should try it with vinegar, it actually makes the stuff fun to eat.

I like putting a little molly mcbutter on my brocolli, if sodium isn't an issue. Butter suds are also good and seem a little less salty. You should try asparagus on the grill. When the ends get just a little crispy its delicious. I spray a little pam on the asparagus and use a little crazy janes mixed up salt. Give it a try guys

how people put vinegar on ANYTHING is beyond me. They have fake butter with no calories as well as Smart Balance Omega 3 butter as well. Other than that a pinch of salt or a little streak seasoning is all good.

Buy the frozen steamed baggies that you can just pop in the microwave. So much easier and quicker.

I don't. It's too nasty. There's nothing in it you can't get from a multivitamin or some food that tastes better.

You can steam it in a steamer, or in the nuke with a little (1 tablespoon) of water in the bowl.
