They all ask but there is rarely an audit or follow up tracing the money.
The first time i heard about this nonsense it was a 9/11 fraud, then a veterans fraud case.
Have people no shame, or am i just getting older?

This is why i have a hard time with charities.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

I tell it like it is, if you want smoke blown up your ass or something sugar coated. I suggest you get a Hooker and a powdered donut.

Sadly there's always been frauds and scams, I suspect the world is roughly no better no worse than before. The only difference is they don't need to be in front of the victims/marks and then run off to the next town with everything in a carpet bag, frauds can be done remotely.
Other than that it's the same set of old-time big cons and little cons as always been, just dressed up slightly differently.
There are plenty of good charities out there, local people helping local causes and run by volunteers. Not all charities are big-businesses charities, don't tar all charities with a single brush.

This.
The policies that help charities leave things open for unscrupulous charities and individuals to take advantage. Sad fact.
Just like on the other end, if you have a food or toy giveaway, there are families who don't need it who show up in $80k cars and take all they can.
You try to filter out the crap and hope that things are coming out good in the net.
btw, there are some big charities that do great things efficiently and ethically.
Been involved in a bunch charities my whole life from volunteer to board member to employee. Believe me, I've seen the ugly side and inefficiencies, but I also still see the good side.

thanks for that info and opinions.
these money hungry crooks are mentioned so frequently that it is very upsetting and it is very easy to assume that they all are crooks.
administrative costs, executive salaries......There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!
