    Help: I’m gaining weight instead!

    Hello!

I’m a newbie to the forum - I apologize if this was asked before, but I was unable to find a similar post.

I started strength training 2 months ago … I do my workout then do cardio for 20 minutes afterwards 3-4 days / week. I home cook all my meals and have a restricted diet to begin with for health reasons.

But I’ve gained 8 pounds!! Is this normal for strength training? I started out approx 25lbs overweight, so I assumed that first the weight would come off.

Please help, I don’t want to give up. Thank you !!

Gaining weight when starting a new exercise routine is normal, especially with muscle gain. Keep going, stay consistent with your workouts and diet
