Ivanko Revolvers or Rogue Six Shooters

Does anyone know if there’s any real difference between the Rogue six shooter plates and the revolvers? With companies buying from the same factories in China and putting their logos on them, thinking they may be the same plates?

I can't speak to the differences but I ordered a set from rogue. I can answer any questions you might have when they arrive next week.

Not sure about this particular comparison, but there are literally dozens, if not hundreds of factories making iron plates in china.

Well, for starters, the Rogue plates have 6 holes, and the Ivanko OMEZH have 7 holes. They still may be made in the same chinese factory.. who knows?

In my opinion, the Ivankos look better. Those plates are famous, really, but their quality has suffered of late, and their customer service sucks. I bought some new ones last year and I'm not pleased with them for the very high price paid. The paint & casting marks on mine are very Rough, to put it simply.

If I were buying new revolvers, I'd probably go with Rogue. They're cheaper and the quality is probably better (I haven't owned these, but those who do have been satisfied, so far). Also, their customer service is much more likely to help you (than Ivanko) if you have a quality issue with any of the plates.

If you want a similar revolver type plate for an even better price, take a look at the RepFitness Equalizer "revolvers." They kinda re-did the revolver design and owners of these have been very pleased as well. The price is excellent. Duke is cool too.

I agree with Thejosef: while I prefer Ivanko's design over the competition, their quality has suffered and they are charging a premium price for an average product. I wonder if they've lost interest in the business and are just living off their reputation at this point.

Rogue's plates seem to be better quality and Rogue is known for good customer service.

If you want a slightly cheaper option, the Rep Fitness plates seem to be a decent as well.

I recall the thread where some people were unhappy with our group order (I wasn't one of them but was in on the same order...from memory the largest component of it). I would point out that Alextheman on the forum just received a large revolver order. He already had a number of revolvers he purchased years ago. He was concerned specifically because of comments like this on the forum and took the "risk" so that he'd have matching plates throughout his gym (gorgeous setup). After receiving his new plates his comment in his thread was that he has no idea what people were referring to and both batches looked exactly the same to him.

At the end of the day, Rogue wasn't available when I made my order. I'd likely go Rogue today and certainly if paying MSRP without the large discount we received on our joint bulk order.

Ivanko OMEZH plates have a lot of history behind them. Rogue six shooters have yet to be proven.

That's great to hear on Alextheman's order. I almost PM'd him recently to see how that order turned out. It's possible a couple guys just got a bad batch then.. who knows..

No idea what happened. Maybe a little overly harsh on general criticism as if there was an entire new process/source for the plates (could be) but certainly there were a few plates that absolutely stunk and should have never gone out. My plates weren't perfect but not one of them looked like the couple of really bad ones. I figure you order 4x45s and one is horrendous it leaves a pretty bad impression.

Here was his comment when asked: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showt...post1519091131
He has >1700lbs of Revolvers in total now so a decent sample with a good portion recent and the rest 3 years ago.

I don't have any experience with the Ivanko's. But, my 6 shooters look/perform fine. I haven't actually weighed any of them to confirm yet, but they look good. Still waiting for my rack to show up so they've only been used from the floor.

I'm sure Ivanko's are fine but what's to be proven about plates? They are iron plates so don't use them like bumper plates. I still have and use some bodysolid plates I got cheap over a decade ago with some pretty solid deadlift beatings and light quick lift slammings.

As C123C said, I have received my whole order about 2 months ago and they were directly shipped from Ivanko’s warehouse even if i have bought them from a reseller here in Canada so they are from the most recent batch. They arrived here in perfect condition, no dents or paint defects. Compared to the first batch i have bought 3-4 years ago i could not tell which plate are from which batch as my older plates are still as new (i take good care of my equipment). I was really worried after reading from a lot of guys here that have bought some in the last year but i could not go with anything else! They are the best! For the price they had to be in good condition, this is the main difference from the first order, the prices has gone up! But in the end it has worth it and could not be happier!

I purchased a cheap pair of 45lb revolvers and painted silver to match Six Shooters. Now that I've handled both here is my analysis.

    - Ivanko shape look better. 7 holes looks better.

    - 7 holes easier to handle. You can grip around the thin part of two holes. (Both brands super easier to grip and maneuver compared to regular plates)

    - Ivanko better finished. Everything is rounded. The 7 holes are rounded into plate, the outer lip is rounded too (these are all sharp edges on Six shooter. ).

    - Better color scheme on Rogue. (preference to grey with black letters, than bronze/silver with white).

    - Impressed with Rogue's quality of paint. It's super hard baked on and shiny. Almost looks like it had a hard shell clear coat. Ivanko original paint is matte and feels like it's very thin. However the Ivanko paint doesn't chip, it ages very well.

    - Weight accuracy is spot on with Rogue. They all weight exactly the same. Revolver only slightly off. So tie.

Comparison pics. painted silver with black to match rogue.

Rogue six-shooters will resell better/quicker if and when you even decide to get ride of them. Most consumers just see the name, nothing more.

While I would agree that anything with the "Rogue" name now sells quicker on the used market, Ivanko Revolvers don't last long either and are quite sought out by most. I never have a hard time selling any of the Ivanko plates that I've owned over the years. My personal opinion, if I had a choice to buy Ivanko Revolvers or Rogue Six Shooters used, I'd take Ivanko any day of the week, but that's just me.

I don't think there is any trouble selling used plates of any brand if you understand the market value and price accordingly.

i ordered my 3rd pair of 45lb Six Shooters. I got a slightly different mold, or maybe same mold but different grinding of edges was done. While I wished my 3 pairs were exactly the same this latest set is actually improved.

It looks like they rounded out the edges both edges of the outer lip and also the 6 holes edges are a tiny bit more rounded. The comfort for holding them is better with this rounding. Also the 2 new plates weigh 0.1 more pounds that other 4 plates. Still very accurate. My other 4 were all exactly the same weight. I'll take it I guess. This OCD kind of stuff only bothers people like me.

see if you can tell difference in picture.

Interesting. Thanks for the photos. Yeah, it kinda sucks when you buy new plates in different batches sometimes (if you're a little OCD) as they will often be different. It definitely looks like the newer set of 6 shooters are a little nicer to handle.

I just did the same thing with DC Blocks. Bought a set of 6, then another set of 6 two months later (from a different source as well due to better pricing). First set was black, second set was grey. Not a big deal, but it is what it is.

reviving an old thread. Just saw on Instagram that Ivanko is changing the color of all their plates away from the avacado/greenish tint. They said their going back to 1985 Grey, however there's no indication of what that looks like. Looks like the first update to these plates in a long time. I wonder if that comes with any changes in the castings too.

    Very interesting,

The grey/green color, while unique, does seem a little dated like a color you'd see on products from the 60's (not that they date back that far, just the era that comes to mind)
