I still don't get how this happens. The house is in your name.

-turn off the water
-turn off the electricity

and wait it out. It should only take a day or two they can't last long without the two, and when they leave to gather resources thats when you jump in, change the locks and throw all their chit out on the curb.

That's the irony, if you reclaim your house and change the locks, the courts will order you OUT of the house pending adjudication which will take upwards to 2 years.

And then the squatters will move right back in while the case is pending...

Only happens in really democratic/liberal areas bro. Squatters have no rights in most states/areas. In my state the door gets kicked in. The squatters go to jail. And all of their property is then 'abandoned' in the residence and ends up in a dumpster. And if a 'family' with kids tried it. While the parents go to jail. OCS gets called to take custody of the kids.


In most states these people have no rights and are generally considered to be criminals and are treated as such. They pretty much only attempt it in liberal/leftist cities.

First of all if you own the home. You get mail there, your vehicle is registered there, and your ID/license shows you reside there. So that could not happen. In cases like this the 'squatters' capitalize on abandoned or long vacant properties and 'establish' residency before the property owner comes around.



Don't let your property sit unattended for months on end. And if you are going to be gone for that ended amount of time. It pays to have a good relationship with LE. Have them check the house/property and make sure nobody fukks around.

The guy lived there for 15 years and spent 150k on renovations, before applying to the court to take posession of the house.

AFAIK, at no point in those 15 years did the owners try and have him evicted. He had lived there for 23 years by the time he sold it.

I don't agree with him being able to sell it, but what the fk were the owners doing for those 15 years?
