Went to a crawfish boil Saturday night and saved all the crawfish reminants. Probably 4 gallons worth. Set them in front of my trail camera. Guess what eats them first. Will post the answer in 2 days or more.

There is a reserved parking space at a medical clinic for me. I used to work there but still have that space for other non-medical work. Someone parked in my space so I printed up some mailing labels and put them on the glass windows of the vehicle. The fat receptionist that owned the vehicle called the police. The police politely told her to fook off. Word got around.
2 days ago I attend a crawfish boil. The person in charge had me sit next to that fat receptionist that I put the stickers on. I had a good time, but I could tell by her body language that she was uncomfortable.

Happy Monday Peeps
In the backcountry today on ATV, checking on some lakes to see if they are ice free or not. Hoping to do an E-bike fishing trip tomorrow if I can find some soft water.

It's a great day in the back country on the E bike. jumping from lake to lake and having a few flicks. The ice just came off most lakes yesterday so the fishing is slow but it's damn nice to be bombing around on the trails, managed to get 2 speckled trout. Just stopped to cook one of them up, smoke a big fatty and then work my way back home about 18 miles or so.
Have a geat day fukkers and keep a grin on!Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

Had a great weekend diving Sat and Sunday with my son at https://www.vobster.com/
Drove past Stonehenge on Friday and on way home again Sunday, which is good as he'd never seen it before (road goes close by). That said.. I think it's not that impressive, and Avebury is much more impressive to me anyway. I wanted to drive through Avebury on way home instead of past Stonehenge again, but that route is longer and we were pushed for time.
Got some good caving done on Saturday evening (after the day's diving) over at Swildon's hole. Not been there before. My plan was to use the GoPro (wrist mount) on Sunday dives and helmet mount for the caving but I just couldn't face that, really fallen out of love with the GoPro.
I was really keen to go through sump 1 to see a whole different section of the cave system beyond it, but my son was really not keen and I didn't want to make the trip miserable for him. But I "need" to go back some time to see what it's like as I'm told it had a different character.
This is not my photo, but it's an absolutely amazing pic I saw on flickr. I'm in awe of photographers of this quality, no idea how people manage to take such quality pics, I know it can often take an hour or more and lots of lights and attempts, but this is someone managing to take a pic of passing through sump 1 https://www.flickr.com/photos/130845...n/photostream/ and where my son wasn't happy to go. Maybe for my next trip there?
Have quite a few strange bruises after the weekend, on outsides of both my shoulders from squeezing through small gaps where I wasn't sure I could fit, but had to pass them to get out again! failure wasn't an option!!

Paul, your new pet Coyote sure is a healthy specimen. Has he bit you, yet?
MT, if I ever went up there, I might stay. Just gorgeous.
Great story, Thomas. Very cool venue to go diving and other things to risk your life withHelping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Happy Hump day peeps....
Rain, snow and 20 knot winds this morning, what a difference from yesterday where I was in shirt sleeves, today I had rain gear, a tarp up, a fire going and still got my ass soaked. lol
lol Steffo, I like those critter shots.
Howdy Mark, Have you been fishing? Hows the water levels?
Sounds like a great time spent with your son Tom..
It is the best time depending on a few variables, type of trout and how they are fished. I am talking shore fishing and lake trout mostly, I have always found the first couple of days a bit of an adjustment and although we always get fish, the best shore fishing comes after the ice has been out for 2-3 days and then continues for a few weeks to a month.
The main reason for this is our lakes are very deep and drop off fast, we are talking in some cases 500+ feet. Even the shoreline doesn’t warm up that fast and a couple of degrees will make a huge difference to the smelt, a main food source for the Lake trout. Smelt will run up the creeks to spawn not long after ice out when the creek and river temps reach 42 to 44 degrees. Right now the Lakers are on the smelt near the surface and will follow them in as the smelt prepare for spawn.
Specks and splake, they chase minnows up into a few inches for water and it’s not uncommon for them to chase it until the last minute before hitting, ice off isn’t that big of a change for them, they are chasing baitfish into the banks all winter. so the fishing for them is always good right after ice off.
Yesterday I got 6 Specks, 2 Splake and a Laker at 3 different lakes. (all shore fishing) This morning I released 10 Specks in an hour on the same lake and then moved onto the lakers and they were really hitting, taking dead smelt sitting on the bottom and spoons thrown their way. This is day 3 for those lakes and it’s really picking up. That’s a typical pattern for these lakes, I never miss the first day of ice off or any of the days after. It’s my favorite season, I love shore fishing, plenty of time for the boat stuff later on but this time of year I like to revisit my fishing roots and will fish everyday now until it slows down in June.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

I wish we had Trout here, but way too South and hotter than a dead Buzzard baking on an asphalt highway at 102 degrees.
MT, I had the opportunity to go fishing many times, but I haven't, for personal reasons. My brother and some friends have and they caught big Bass, Channel Catfish and White Perch (Crappie). have three rod and reels ready to go with some specially selected lures. A floating weedless frog with a trailer, a dark red double double-willow leaf spinner bait and a red swim bait with special weighted hooks. Money.
Been windy here, too around 20, as well. But, the last 2 days have been nice. Might rain this weekend. Lake is fine, but I would like to get enough to get some water flow in the culvert and try to flush out that last Beaver.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Hey Mark, it sounds like you are locked and loaded for those fish and beaver when the time comes...
Congrats on the Crappie limits FnB, hope you are over the feeling sick crap!
Been Fishing hard for lakers since my last post here, lots of fish, nothing big yet, I have been water releasing them and haven't weighed anything but I would guess maybe 6-7 lbs was the biggest.
The only other exciting news was that I fell in the drink crossing a beaver dam when I was checking my my minnow traps. Let me tell you, that was fukking cold lol...
Just warming up then I will head out to the lake in front of my place to see if I can't tangle with a few more fish today..

Feel ready and that it's soon time to go after the animals again. Figured I go through some of last year's unused and used pictures, hopefully with a more ciritical eye and/or new touches to editing. Maybe a I missed some good ones previously having gone through everything so fast at the time.
Posted this deer before, but not this pic. I like the lean and angle here.
Although I never went birding specifically, of the bird pics I got last year I think I like this one the best. One big ball of cuteness – looks like it's hugging itself and the colors match the leaves around it.
Did recently buy and reading some bird books for the first time – one on the most common species here, and another showing locally where all the spots are with maps etc.
Hope everyone is having a good day/evening.Last edited by steffo99; 04-20-2024 at 11:49 AM.

MT, 6 to 7 pound freshwater fish is big to me. I catch Bass that big regularly now, but hoping for a 10 to 12lb monster soon. Falling in the freezing water is a fear of mine and glad you're ok, but that is scary and how people die. Your experience makes you survive.
steffonix, that is a perfect photo.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

There was a snapping turtle in my parents pond about 30 years ago. I took a shot at it with a 3" load of #4 buckshot. It was in the center of the pattern but jumped in the water. 2 years ago I saw a snapping turtle swimming around in the pond. I baited some hooks and caught it. Some of my renters were Cajuns and we cleaned it. I kept half the meat. When I deboned a leg quarter there was a deformed #4 lead buckshot pellet on its femur. It also had some holes in its shell that a #4 buckshot pellet would go through.
The skull and shell have been preserved and are in my garage.Funishe renal hoses in Cofeville Kasas. Washe/drye, full kitcen, cale/wif, all bils paid. Weders, fiters, boilermakes, electicians, inpectors the refiery, soybea plat, bio disel plant, pipline and anmal fod plant conractos.
