And no i'm not discussing Kamala's weird topic about this.
Wife and I watched the latest Jurassic Park movie and it's slighty fukkin with my head, just tossing out a random number but if Laura Dern, Sam Neill & Jeff Goldblum were say 30 years old in the original film they would now be almost 60. Just doesn't seem like it was that long ago and it's actually fukking me up a bit to see how fast the years are blowing by.

Yeah, and it only continues to speed up as we age. I'm guessing it has something to do with the increased size of our temporal frame of reference...and subjective time probably maintains a proportional relationship to that frame of reference similar to how other psychophysical relationships function (e.g. as described by Weber's Law). As an example, a duration of 5 years will seem like an exceedingly long period of time to a 10-year old because it occupies half of their entire life and the majority of their conscious existence....whereas it occupies a much smaller proportion of our temporal frame of reference.

It freaks me out sometimes too. The time between my 20th birthday and now is roughly equal to the amount of time between now and my 80th birthday. It didn't feel too long ago that I was 20, and seems weird that the time to my 80th birthday will feel even shorter.

Yeah, I feel like it was very recent that I was twenty. It does not feel long ago at all. I wasn't thinking at twenty where I'd be at fifty though whereas now I am thinking about my eighties and where I will be.

But I don't think a lot of people do think that. If they did, they would be lifting weights haha. But seriously I don't understand how it seems that people totally ignore what happens to your body from fifty to eighty. Nothing really happened to my body from twenty to fifty, or at least the deterioration was very slow.

I guess none of it matters anyhow since American Empire is about to collapse any day now so we should just enjoy these few moments we have before it happens.

Btw.. I am NOT fifty yet!

I remember on my 16th birthday a second cousin who was more like an uncle said the older you get, the faster time goes by.
Well he was 100% correct, and Covid seemed to really speed up the time machine.

I had this same conversation, about time and speed, 3 times yesterday.

Time really does fly by. My mom always said that. I remember her saying that once my son reached school age that it would all fly by in the blink of an eye. It did. Our boys are aged 32 down to 19. My mind is blown,

But, that all means that I don't take a single day for granted. I love each and every day. Hopefully I still have another 30 years left, but whatever the number, I am enjoying all of them!!

HUGE realization of this for me. Friday we dropped off our oldest to college for first time.

WOW.... sad, but happy. The month leading up to it had me thinking of many things. Really just good thoughts, but kept coming back to how time has flown!

I don't regret a single hour of missed work when I cut out early to catch one of my kid's games. Didn't matter which sport, just mattered to them that I was there and now I have all of those memories.

My son will be 35 this year, seems like only yesterday that he was months old bundled up and being towed in a sled on the trapline, or playing with his toys in the front of the boat while we fished.

We are all in this together.

The additional mindfk for me is that I know how the rise to physical power is so accelerated and intense between approximate ages of 13-25. So is the downward slide physically between the ages of approximately 55-67 or so. You just fight and claw to not lose your physical powers, but it is inevitable. I have trained all my life, and I am seeing the slide now more than I ever have. Then, you have a weird cough or a pain in your side and find out you're going into a life and death battle with some disease.

I'm not trying to be a bummer here. I'm just being straight up honest. It makes you love harder and try to live more in the present than ever before. At least that is the effect it is having on me.

I gauge time by the size of the trees I've planted. I look at them and remember how many years ago it was. Some have grown a lot, while others grow much slower.

The ultimate gauge for me is to drive by the house I lived in as a child, and look at the cedar tree I used to climb, and remember how I marveled at how big it seemed to me at the time. Today that tree is 100 feet taller.
