6'1 207 lbs checking in
I'm not lean by any means but still in decent shape but how is it that almost every person I see now days is legit obese?
It was never like this before you can look back at old photos people have always been skinny until the 90s

the relatively new notion that meals should be easy, cheap and fast - AND OFTEN AND PLENTIFUL AND EVERYWHERE. i'm telling you, i'm a Gen-Xer and we didn't go to Starbucks, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, Jamba Juice, etc. back in the 70s and 80s and even early 90s every damn day like people do today. in fact, many of these people go multiple times a day. think about how many calories they are drinking with these iced mocha cream caramel coffee drinks and fruit freeze drinks and peanut butter smoothies - and then add in the treats, snacks, and meals. for us back then it was a special treat and a rare occurrence to order out. i think things started to change in the mid to late 90s. look at the advertising on TV today pushing all of this constant high calorie consumption! and a lot (or nearly as many) of these places existed or had this many high calorie options back then. they are on every corner and people are lapping up all of this garbage. there's your answer. and huge portions and huge calories for everything.
p.s. OP - you need to get down to 185 you fat bastard.

If you’re truly busy and involved in things all day, you shouldn’t be eating or even thinking about food.
Everything is too easy now - transpiration gets your food here quick. Then you get fast food, drive throughs, food delivery services, etc that force food into you.14-9 total correct guesses (1st place), 61% accurate - Lyon Gaultier Presents Euro 2012 Contest ||| 45-33 total correct guesses (4th place), 58% accurate - 2014 World Cup Pick Em' Giveaway by Lyon Gaultier

too much time watching HBO max I reckon
“The Misc. is a stone-faced Uncle Sam with Popeye’s forearms and a cocked pistol in each hand. It’s a screeching bald eagle with a foreign Bad Thing in its talons. It’s everything that defines America’s bro culture, magnified and weaponized. But it’s deeper than that.“

fatties gonna fat
in the USA and increasingly in the UK and the Western World ...obesity is becoming normalised and fully acceptable as a way to be ,,they are even trying to convince people is attractive (well women anyway)
fat acceptance, big is beautiful, healthy any at any size all this BS combined with inherent laziness and mental weakness
it reached peak clown when Tess Holliday claimed to be anorexic!

A big part of this would be tied to the nature of adding weight and how our bodies have a much easier time holding onto new mass once it has been added and will only very reluctantly let go of it
Make that a function of time and living for 70+ years, all you need to do is add 1lb per year and you'll balloon hard af by the time your mid 30s roll around. And each year you live is another risk of adding more weight that will be almost impossible to lose permanently, so being skinny becomes more and more remarkable as you age

When analyzing the diets of obese people - are they consuming an excessive amount of grains? Or are they consuming little to none at all? Especially when taking into account their activity levels.
I understand that calories in vs. calories out is what matters.
What I am saying is, if we removed the massive amount of grain consumption from obese people, weights / percentages of obese people could drop pretty dramatically.JOURNAL: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=110936481

People have access to a lot of fast food and order services now so there is nothing to stop them from constantly shoveling **** into their gullets. Most people work a lot (not necessarily hard, but often) and then are lazy when they get home and have other things in life to tend to. IMO this is why everyone should own a home gym, there is simply no excuse for not working out when the weights are in your garage and you don't even have to leave the house. Consistency isn't easy to build and most fail at it. That's why people stop going to the gym after a month or so and stop on diets after a couple weeks. It's not that they are dumb, they just don't know how to properly self motivate and instead convince themselves that it's ok to be a lazy slob and then a few slobs get together and start trying to convince themselves that everyone else is against them when in reality we just don't want them to die.
