Canadians out of a job due to covid got 2K/month for 7 months. That's about 1,550 USD a month. Students who couldn't work during the summer (think waiters etc) were also getting some money. About 8 out of 35 million Canadians received such money.

I know a lot of countries do something similar to this. The U.S. relief package gave 4+ trillion to corporations and citizens got one measley $1200 check. We also quickly passed a bill to fund the military at almost a trillion dollars. Another relief bill is coming up with a one time $600 check for citizens but trillions for corporate welfare. If you lose your job here you also lose your healthcare. Greatest country in the world.

Unemployed Americans got paid well for 3 months. After that there was another extension package. My job continued to cover medical for 3 months after being laid off. Most jobs if not all offer “cobra” for a month. There’s lots of medical help is out right because of the pandemic. If you let medical bills go to collection, it can be forgiven by creditors unlike a Best Buy credit card.

Australia made the unemployment benefits 3x higher and gave any business affected (or able to tweak their financial statements to say they were affected) a heap of money per week per employee to not fire them.
Kinda hard to find the numbers quickly, but I think when these programs cease in March (if they do) they will have spent about $20k per Australian on average. Majority of us didn't get that though.

Good luck getting an extension if you live or lived in Nevada. I haven't got an unemployment check in almost 3 months now because I have to call in for some reason. The lines are always busy. **** Sisolak that fat **** bastard. So in the meantime I worked a temporary job for UPS and it ****ed up my knees.
Worked since I was 15 and paid into this ****ty system and can't even get what I'm entitled to. The real kicker will be when generation X is the last one to receive Social Security. Not in the AM

Its only furlough but I have been working full time since the first lockdown was lifted. Its 80% of wages. They keep extending it in the UK because they know chit will hit the fan in a big way.
They extended the scheme to April 2021. Combinign this "new" strain and Brexit its going to be one hell of a year.
