Welcome to the 12th edition of the Trading and Investing Thread!
This will perhaps be one of the wildest markets and financial times in the past century. We will see what the effects of central bank intervention and negative interest rates have done to the world and how this will affect their role moving forward.
US Shares markets have collapsed 30% in a month due to Coronavirus pandemic fears and governments putting aside business and economic functionality in order to try and contain the virus, or so they say.
We will be monitoring the EU and see if BREXIT was just the beginning and if there is still confidence that the Union will last, or will it dismantle and become yet another failed experiment and attempt to nationalize Europe?
The 2020 elections in the US will see rising political discontent as there is no more civility left. Will either side accept the results of the election or will there be riots and unrest following them?
Is there a crisis in liquidity in the bonds market? With the ECB being the sole purchaser of bonds in the EU, what will happen when they stop buying them? Have they technically destroyed the bond market?
The stock market is a game of capital flows and confidence. Know where the safe havens and troubles lie, and you will know what rises and falls.
Good luck, and may your emotions always be kept at bay. Make sound, emotionless decisions, and ask questions!

In. I made a great amount of money on the second to last thread and then lost almost everything in my thread. Time for a turn of fortune in this one with my new $1000 account.

I'm getting double fuked today from tech and metals. The dollar is up 0.50%+ and looks to be climbing, at least until another fake stimulus pump. Going to buy a bit of NET though since it dropped with FSLY.
I remember they were once considered the best out of all the **** banks during the financial crisis. What the hell happened to them?

I wonder if SEC is doing jackshiit with insider trading.
There is volume on fasly that nobody would ever buy without knowing stock would be tanking 35%.
36,000 percent gains should set off alarm bells.
................
maybe Zoom shiits the bed on earnings and tanks hard. it looks like its so overbought right now.

Sold my QQQ puts on today's dip for a 76% gain. Left money on the table but can't complain with a 76% return in 3 days.

Margin works a little differently for options though. Your buying power will be whatever cash you have in your account, but the buying power they hold from your account is greatly reduced in a margin account. It's not a loan to use towards securities like with stocks (though that is also included). I think for most stocks it only holds about 20% of the option value as a rough average. Certain high risk underlyings could be more and the amount held can fluctuate based on changes in the market, but as an example yesterday I sold a naked put in WBA at $35 strike and it only reduced my buying power by mid $600 something vs a cash secured put that would have held $3,330.Misc Firearms Crew
