31 now, been lifting consistently since i was 18, mostly powerlifting and strength training, also done some significant cuts and gotten lean. Both have felt great in their own ways, but now i have lost all motivation to continue either of these things. I just want to be a regular guy, lift a few days a week for fun, keep some muscle, get a pump. I want to stop counting calories, grab that 6 pack and pizza after a long days work if i want. Anybody else feel this way?

I have an exact same story to tell like you, lifting since the age of 18 and i am turning 31 after 2 weeks.
Gym becomes too repititive, boring and pointless after a few years. The environment of any gym makes you feel sick after sometime. People start to get injuries etc.
I would rather chill back at home. Play video games, drink beer, eat kfc/pizza/mcdonalds, watch movies.
Been there done it all in gym (at least for myself). Going back is pretty pointless to me.

I stopped working out for a few years , then felt like chit after getting soft , so started back up and will only quit when I’m 6 feet under.
Unfortunately at my age I have to stop ego lifting , as it’s aggravating my tendons and rotators too much .
I’m going back to benching with dumbbells , which I hate btw , but it’s better than nothing .
OP , I do like your idea of cutting back and maintaining some muscle . Just don’t dedicate every breathing moment to it , but don’t quit eitherLast edited by MajorTendonitis; 05-01-2019 at 07:47 PM.

Brah, that's how it should have always been. One should lift like once a week. Modafkrs on here think looking shredded is the way to go. No, its a waste of time, money, food, and energy. Its about being healthy and having moderation.

I came to a similar conclusion when I was like 19 after 3 years of training. I got big and strong. Then I cut down got real lean. Now I pretty much maintain 15% bodyfat so I’m pretty lean and I mainly do calisthenics and light dumbbell work and I only train like 3 days a week. No more heavy lifting, no more pushing for a max, no more working out 4-5 days a week. Just doing things to get a pump and maintain some solid mass, sometimes ride my bike for cardio if I eat a bit too much. I enjoy life more now than I did.
I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that no matter how hard I was busting my ass I didn’t look how I wanted. I looked better than the majority of people but I was never able to achieve the goals of these like superhero looking builds that I wanted. I was never able to hold a lean bodyfat percentage while having a lot of mass. It was either 190-216 at 25% bodyfat or 160 at 14-15% bodyfat (which is what I am at now and I’m 5’7). So just giving up finally and accepting that I didn’t have the genetics or drive to look exactly how I wanted helped me find peace.

I care more then when I was younger. I've just realized you can literally hit the gym three or four times per week for 45-60 minutes each time and have the same kind of results as if you go 6 days per week and follow a super ridged training schedule. Also enjoying some pizza, burgers or beer 3-4 times per week isn't going to destroy your gains or turn you into a fat fukk.
When you get older its important to just focus on being healthy. Stretch daily 10-15 minutes. Do 30-45 minutes of cardio 3x per week. Lift weights 3x per week. Focus on 8-12 reps. Good contraction and keeping a pump. Don't lift heavy. Just push blood.
Boom. Your healthier and in better shape then 95% of the men your age.

You should still care about your physique. It's mostly reflective on how good (or poor) your diet is and your diet should always be good for health purposes. However, you don't need to be single digit bodyfat to look good. I look pretty good at about 14% bodyfat right now and to be honest, girls like guys who are a little fluffier.

Honestly man, it's whatever makes you happy; to each their own, you know? However, if you feel like it's just not becoming a priority anymore ; as long as you take care of your health through general means, then you should be fine. Lift cause you want to at this point since you don't have any goals for it don't lift because you need to.
if you need someone to chat with, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

same age
lmao not being able to stay around ~13% and still drinking/eating like you want
i'm in the middle of my summer shred for my vacation at the end of May, will get to right around 10%, still will be watching Avengers this Friday (eating popcorn and having a soda - lmao @ diet soda with popcorn), then eating some Mediterranean food afterwards. I've cut back on drinking (once this last month), but that's more due to staying in on the weekends until my trip.

Yep. When you are over 40 and fat
and care again. Life stories.
I thought I was all over the place, but looking at other dudes my age, I have kept a pretty even keel and am now pulling ahead very strong. I care about being able to pull my weight like it is nothing. I could give fuk all about what you bench, squat and deadlift and how many hours you spend doing bicep curls and tricep push downs.☆☆☆USA яєω☆☆☆

This, you don't even need to do that sh!t. You're acting like you have to spend 2 hours in the gym 6 days a week to look good.
That's why you get jacked and lean while you're young, so when you're older it's easy to maintain instead of having to gain that muscle at 35.Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.
