there could be a whole dissertation on why digital currencies are superior to centralized banking with fiat currencies. you should watch some andreas antonopoulos vids or read some basic articles.

adoption is slow and takes time especially for such a long-entrenched industry as banking and fiat currencies. digital currencies have only been around for like 10 years - that's nothing.

long story short eventually humans will advance beyond printing numbers on cotton pieces of paper and seashells and using them to represent money and value with guaranteed inflation built-in.

the gold standard was actually a good idea (lol at the full faith and credit of the united states), but it turns out people are fallible and people in charge will just steal the gold if stored at a centralized location. the only way to effectively accomplish this is with infallible computer code. money is just a concept. the only reason you can buy stuff with a piece of cotton with $100 written on it is because its been adopted and we say it has value. one day people will be working on the moon and on mars and the only way to effectively pay them is with digital currencies.

Because it's been around since 2011. Do you think this is the first time BTC has gone parabolic? It's happened several times and each it's come back to reach new ATHs. Look back at 2013. Looks very similar to where we are now. It went from a market cycle low (85% retrace) of $153 to $20,000. If this cycle does the same that puts a low around $3,000 and a new ATH $390,000. It's not going to happen overnight and in fact, I believe it will take years before we really start breaking out of this bear market but I'm very sure we will see ATHs again someday.

Just being able to send btc/usd anonymously to anywhere in the world in minutes for pennies makes the tech very valuable. On top of that, there are thousands of other projects ALTS out there advancing the technology further every day.

Lastly, there are more millionaires in this world than there will be BTC. Imagine owning just one BTC if it because a worldwide form of currency.
