    Phone or Paper Log?

    What do we use?

Do you log your workouts as you go? Do you do this on your phone, paper, or a log book?

Whatever is most convenient and effective to you.

When I was keeping track, I had a small notebook. Easier to jot down notes and relate in real time how the workout is going. You don't have to rely on memory. I do not bring my phone on the floor for any reason.

Couple times a month I'd translate into a spreadsheet.
--There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

--Are you eating while you are reading this? You should be... --hrdgain81

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

I started on paper/excel, went to phone, then watch, then back to phone, and now back to paper... It takes too long to set up and log and click/swipe through vs just jotting a number down (maybe some shorthand notes at most).

    No shameless plugs, no advertising.

I'm here more for market research if you like, I wont be posting any links. Just interested in people's training habits.

Apologies if it has came across any other way.

I need more information on the product before I can answer, I'm getting hung up on the difference between 'Paper' and 'Log Book'. I'm assuming it's a matter of pluralism and specific binding agents used to adhere the paper together. However, what I'm using is a Clipboard box which falls into a different category given its ability to carry numerous pieces of paper that are technically 'unbound'. I'm guess what I 'm trying to ask is, do you have a website link for myWorkout or pricing info?

Ok. if it's just "market research" I will play along. But don't let me catch you trying to sell me anything!

I use an Excel spreadsheet that I created to map my workouts ahead of time. All my set and rep schemes are based off a 1RM percentage. Each week the set and rep scheme changes for a 4 week cycle. So all I have to do is plug in my 1RM on each lift, and then my Next 4 weeks is laid out for me.

I print that out and take with me in my dungeon. Now what is "mapped out" and what is actually performed may differ. (Missed a rep, had an extra burst of strength so pushed harder, etc.).... So my actual workout now gets logged in a 9.5" x 6" spiral notebook. Every set is logged there.

If I hit a new rep PR or a 1RM PR, it gets circled.

Off to the side may be some notes - 'Less rest than usual'... 'TNG set'... 'Paused reps'... 'depth could have been better'.... etc

At end of workout I will add additional notes about what may have differed that day - 'extra shot of C4'... 'Didn't sleep well last night'... 'trouble staying tight on bench today'... Whatever I think is worth noting. Good or bad.

I have been using weightlifting Macintosh software on decommissioned iMacs in my fitness room since 2005. It has been great to go back quickly and easily to chart my progress. I have preset programs so it is easy to add a daily log but also easy to add items such as an extra jog, etc. I use my iPhone and Apple watch for other fitness tracking and then enter it into my iMac. It has been a great motivation tool for me.

I have a 5'x3' dry erase board that i jot down my 7 days of working out. But I would prefer a paper log.

Would be nice if there were an app that you could put every workout you do, and either you set the reps / weight and it shuffles it so everyday you get a different workout already preset. OR if you put in the workout and it adds in the reps/weight by itself. I'd assume it would be difficult though.
