In November 2015, a federal judge preliminarily approved a settlement of a class-action lawsuit against Iovate Health Sciences U.S.A.
The complaint, which was originally filed in March 2015, alleged that the company misrepresents the amount of protein in various protein products, including MuscleTech, Six Star, Sam’s Club, Fuel One, and EPIQ, by engaging in “protein spiking” (i.e., adding amino acids to protein products to make it seem like they contain more protein than they actually do).

According to the settlement terms, class members may receive one of the following:

A full refund with receipts as proof of purchase (up to $300 per household),
A refund of the suggested retail price with proof of purchase other than receipts (up to $300 per household), or
A $10 refund for each protein product without proof of purchase (up to $50 per household).
Money remaining in the settlement fund will be distributed to class members, first going to class members who have provided proof of purchase in excess of $300 and then to the remaining class members on a pro rata basis.

In addition to the monetary relief provided, the company agreed to modify the testing, labeling, packaging, and advertising for its protein products to ensure that the nitrogen content attributed to amino acids, creatine, and other non-protein substances are not included in the protein calculation. This is good, I actually bought several tubs of Phase 8 from here when it was on bogo until I found out about it being spiked here on the fourms. I won't buy anything from Muscletech anymore. Glad to see this!!

This class action settlement is for anyone who purchased the affected Iovate protein products from March 10, 2011 until Nov. 10, 2015.

the amino spiking mess happened prior to me joining EPIQ, but I do know MT reps were well aware of the issue and took plenty of flak on the forums about Phase 8 and other products

MT did release the platinum line which includes protein blends and isolates that meet label claims, and Iovate has also re-done at least a couple of the products listed in the settlement including the EPIQ Isolate

I'm not in the loop on all the Iovate goings-on, so I can't speak to much else, but if you go back through my posts, I was a fan of the research backed direction MT took a couple of years ago when they revamped products like NaNO Vapor, Amino Build, and things like Anarchy and the new Myobuild since then, so amino spiking issue aside, the line offers a lot of solid and unique products that are worth trying

Who cares what their line offers really. When you knowingly & willingly lie to and decieve customers, fuk your product line. I wouldn't spend my money on products from a company with sh*tty business ethics. Unfortunately a lot of people would, that's why companies don't care to spike their protein or put meth in their pre workouts.

Isn't that a Cali law iirc? Something about containers needing to be full capacity or something like that stating it's misleading.

not sure where the law is from, but yes it says too large of containers isn't allowed, despite their fill weight being listed directly on the label

Really can't believe it took so long to someone do something about it.
For me it's way worse than ridiculous and unproven claims.
It's simple a lie. They know they are lying, FDA knows they are lying, experienced users know they are lying, the supp stores know they are lying.
How such a thing could be going on for years?
It's like selling gasoline with orange juice was OK if the orange juice would have the same amount of carbon of gasoline...
