kind of a dumb thing, and quite embarrassing too...
I never warmed up or stretched before lifting, and it eventually caught up with me.
I had developed a bit of intermittent back pain which was getting worse, about four weeks ago.
It was during a time when I added weighted squats and stiffed-leg bends.
Another cause was that every time I lifted my weights at the beginning of the set, and placed them down at the end, I was doing so by bending my back, and no so much my legs. A noob thing, I know, but that's what I was doing.
I changed these two things last week, on Friday, and my back pain is going buh-bye.
(I lift with dumbbells exclusively)
Thanks.
Yes!
And who knows what other noob/ridiculous things I am doing now, that I will eventually discover and change...
Thanks.

What is your reason behind it though? is it purely just convenience and based on how your day turns out?
I mean, the studied benefits of fasting are pretty cool. I've done a fair bit of study on the long term effects, and it all comes down to cell rejuvenation or in a better example, a good time for the body to clean the "dead" cells.
Its funny, Fasting goes against all the modern mantra of the body-building system, not saying you are in that category but basically protein consumption = IGF-! Increase - which in turn is bad for cells (read up on it if you want) then you have the fasters, and low protein consumption less IGF-1 slows age etc. Its quite interesting.
Again over the top I know, but I was just quite interested in what made you IF on those days, and how you got to learn about it?
Pretty cool study
Alternate day fasting and endurance exercise combine to reduce body weight and favorably alter plasma lipids in obese humans.

I usually end up doing IF out of necessity. Or rather, because on certain days I am busier than on others, and I just don't have enough time to sit down and eat. It just ends up being a 15-16 hour fast, often unintentionally.
At times, I will do it intentionally, just to keep my body guessing a little bit. I don't want to give it food every single time it wants it...
I learned about IF last year, during my first attempts to lose weight. My first attempt simply involved IF, and I dropped some 50 lbs, but it never lasted, because I eventually ended up overeating during my eating window, so in the end IF didn't really make a difference.
I can, however, tell that IF makes a difference in my own body. I don't know that it helps me lose weight specifically, but there is a specific physical feeling I get when I go for a few hours without food. A sort of feeling of being lighter and "cleaner" on the inside. I can't really explain it. It feels good not to eat every other hour. To me anyways.
I also read some studies (made in Europe?) about IF (or eating less) and longevity. I remember reading studies about groups of people that lived longer lives, apparently due to the fact that they either did not overeat for long periods of time, ate less than one would expect, and also ate regular meals at the same appointed time of the day.
The study you provided for me above is quite interesting! I did not know that increased Protein intake would have a similar effect on the body/cells as eating large amounts of food. That is something I would be interested in reading more about.
As far as the "bodybuilder mantra" as you refer to it, I don't really see myself as a bodybuilder
You make a good point though, and if the increased Protein is an issue (aside from increased muscle mass) than I would definitely look more into it.
I basically go for higher Protein numbers because I want to hold on to whatever small amount of muscle I have, as I lose weight. It is the same reason for which I lift weights. Basically, I don't want to look like a lifeless twig when I reach my target weight.
Your message is thought provoking and your input is very much appreciated!
Thanks for stopping by.
