Yeah I'll openly admit I know almost nothing about German vehicles and their inner workings, I have no idea what the purpose of the flappers is...I assumed it was something along the lines of the old restrictor plates. That said from what I've seen parts prices aren't too bad and short of a rebuild I do pretty much everything myself at home so I would assume (hope) that ownership shouldn't be too much worse than the Magnum.

At the revolution school the other weekend a guy walked into the second classroom session late, sweating profusly, hair straight up with dirt all over him. He sat down, raised his hand and said: "please explain brake fade to me". -CSG @Corral.net

thanks bruh, that's an awesome color combo you picked up, I almost picked up an 84 with that color combo. The seats are in such perfect condition and I have always wanted some pillowtops. I am debating doing an engine swap since the vehicle is in such mint condition. I got the 5.0 which has no balls at all, but it starts faster than a brand new car. Either way the engine swap would be one of the last things I do to it, so I got time to think. Post a pic yours.

Pretty much the same as jlsnyder, I take it out on sunny days, and to work on nice Fridays. Car doesn't see rain, snow or any of that even though the only thing I really have to worry about in Texas is rain. However, Texas doesn't really have too bad winters so I try to get it out on relatively nice days in the fall/winter. It does rain a bit during the winter, so it doesn't get driven for weeks on end sometimes. Nor does it see anything below 40deg or so. I bought the car at 97,197 miles; put nearly 6k miles in the first year, a bit less than 5k in the time since. My time driving it is decreasing due to the fact that I bought a house and live further from work; which means more of a chance for it to get hit. That, and the Hagerty values seem to be on the up; which makes me want to keep it off the road more. When I drive it though; it gets driven.
My S2000 is driven as the daily, and I'm looking at getting a TL/TSX as a true daily so that these two can stay garaged. The S2000 is more fun to drive, IMO and the NSX is an amazing drive. Owning the two is a pleasure.United States Marine Corps [Sep. '01 - Mar. '13]

Agreed. He definitely wasn't one to pop the hood, change his own wheels, or do any of his own research. I can pop a bumper off, change air filters, etc. And I'm sure I could learn to do suspension/brakes if necessary. The only thing that would scare me off are electrical issues - aside from replacing fuses and changing out light bulbs, I'm clueless.

It no where near the quality of yours. But it was alos essentially free. Traded a rotted out 85 benz 300sd for it that i would have got $200 at the yard for. Tried selling it for a year. So fine..i paid 200 for the caddy.
Body is super straight, needs new plastics, there is a pinhole sized rust hole right in the center of the hood, and id like to redo the rear vinyl top. Otherwise, interior is cherry, just needs cleaning. Overall a very good platform that will need minimal money invested to look very good again. Lots of elbow grease. Im considering maybe just just rebuild the trans for a few hundred bucks, but well see.
