Not being satisfied with the current way I look, having failed a previous lift, and seeing guys who are bigger than me are things that fire me up to train.

I look at greats in the sport and find it inspirational to see how great the human body can look when it's shaped with lots of hard work and effort physically and mentally. Seeing is believing so now what, I'm not getting any younger I have 26 and next week 27 reasons why I should keep these goals in the back of my mind. Its an addicting lifestyle but at the end of the day I do it for bettering myself.

What gets me fired up to train is simply the opportunity that I can each day. I've found something that I absolutely love to do on a daily basis and it's literally what gets me up and out of bed first thing each morning. My normal morning routine is a shower, my pre-workout, my pre-workout meal on the way to the gym, and then a training session before work. And literally, every day, I spring out of bed and I am so excited to hit the gym.

In a world of arbitrary tasks, i tend to have a cynical outlook on the busywork that populates my day. But when im working out, fighting through the exhaustion, and afterwards enjoying the physical and mental high accompanied by a protein shake and the known fact that i got **** done, my cares leave me. I forget about the **** that happened that day, and the fact ill do it again tomorrow. The privilege of bettering myself and the expectation of a well earned euphoria gets me fired up.

What gets me fired up is knowing that this might be my last work out. Growing up I wanted to look like Arnold, Stallone, Van Damme but had no idea how. Once I started lifting back in 2004 I fell in love and never ever wanted to stop. Now with some much things going on in life I always think to myself I have to make this workout worth it! I might not be able to make it and what than? Did i make the best out of it? Was it worth it? Also knowing that all this training one day will catch up to me and it will be something I will be thankful for. Examples.. What if god forbid an accident happens where I go over a hill and there is this branch that happened to be there that I grabbed hold off and I need to pull myself up in order to save myself. Now I can't really do dead hand pulls ups on my own but I try every time I train back to get them. Or in another case i'm in combat and a buddy of mine gets shot, I'm the only one there and I need to carry him out of there before he bleeds out.. If i don't train legs I'll never be able to do that. Those are the things that gets me fired up.

The thing that pumps me up is a collaboration .mp3 of police officers final radio calls before they are killed. Which is then put into a slow beat and turns into a motivation techno where the words "I won't quit, I won't die, I will survive" keeps echoing through. As a law enforcement officer in training this never fails to keep my head up and my heart racing and my body ready for the next set. It makes me strive, not only for myself but that determination that those officers gave their entire life before they were lost in the line of duty defending the public. Most of the time, the doubt that people have ever given me is focused into my workouts and I feed off of it, I rub it in their face that they are doing more good than bad and that the more doubt and hatred they throw at me, the better I do. Every second I push myself, to continue that respect my father gives me as he protects people each day as a deputy, and how now he looks at me as a model after seeing what he raised. This, is what fires me up to work hard. Hooah.

What gets me fired up to train? I like to see how far my mind will allow my body to push. Just when I think I can't do any more, I push for that one extra rep, and then another. Training is more than just improving my body. Training is much more a mental battle that I REFUSE TO LOSE.
In my gym bag is an old everlast leather belt, wrist wraps, knee wraps, an old protein container full of gym chalk, a pair of black chuck Taylor's, a pair of Olympic lifting shoes, 3 shaker cups, headphones and my will to win the battleJust Get Pissed

Holy sh!t good stuff guys! Just got ME all fired up to train!!
It's really cool to see what motivates different people to do what they do... we all have a different history and a unique way of attacking life. Sometimes it's the simplest things that move us, and for others there's some pretty deep / dark stuff in there that drives you.
Thanks for sharing guys. Looking forward to hearing from others over the next couple of days... what helps psych you up to get your @ss into the gym and kill it!SDPharmaceuticals.com Sponsored Athlete & Representative

What gets me fired up to train is the growth that it allows me to experience in my life. I love to train but I try to use the gym as a tool to improve my life overall. I try to make the gym the hardest part of my day so that the rest of my life isn't as demanding. And the gym has allowed me to improve on a lot of my skill sets that I previously wasn't great at. Things like time management, the ability to plan/prepare ahead of time, etc. I want to use the gym as a way to enhance my life and that drive to be better each day is what fires me up each and every morning.

What gets me fired up to train is just my drive to constantly improve. Every single time that I hit the gym I aim to beat myself last time I was there. Its like an inner competition with myself to change. I am striving everyday to improve my body, health, the way I look, and my strength. Its a journey and a commitment that you have to be fired up to embark on. Once that pre workout goes down and my headphones go in im in my own world and nobody wants to get in my way in the weight room because when you're in that zone you tear up the weights.

I've been on the skinnier side my whole life and I just remembered a time last week when two bigger guys were struggling with 185 half reps on flat bench so I was determined to hit 6 good reps of 195 on incline. I may not have the best muscle building genetics but that won't stop me from lifting some heavy a$$ weight!!
