They also changed The Mountain... for the 3rd time now. I think they just went with someone more popular, that guy (Michiel Huisman) will be on the cult hit Orphan Black next season as well, so either he's a better actor with more range or they just wanted to pull in more fangirls.

I havent read books and avoided every single spoiler and i had a strong feeling something was gonna happen this big. Tbh im sad hes gone so early and that he didnt get knifed in the gut by someone. But then this is why i love the show and avoid reading books.

Yea, I guess a pretty strong indication was the fact they lingered there for awhile, which is almost always an indication of something massive happening(the exception I can think of would be tyrions wedding, which wasnt nearly as long).

Also, out of curiosity how mind=blown were you who haven't read the book at joffs death?

Reading the books, the build up all made sense to me, from the hints at the poisoner, the eerier version of the rains of castamere played early in the wedding with a slow pan around joff, joff being a totally unhinged arse and everyone being deathly serious, down to the dead dove. In general it kind of came across as his last hurrah, especially with the out of control drunkenness and wine sputtering out of his mouth.

But the people I watched with were super shocked, probably since its only ep 2 not 9, its sunny compared to the grim RW, and no one expected another king dead at a wedding.

The Rains of Castamere song played Joeffrys wedding didnt really mean anything to me, it's a Lancaster song and anyone who is a Lancaster and associated with that family sing this song/have it played.... I think they even played it at Tyrones wedding.

At the Red Wedding when they played that song I knew **** was gonna go down because it was the Starks involved. So yeah, Joeffry's death came as a huge shock to me, I didnt think they'd actually KILL him lol, I figured it'd be a failed assasination or something.

I'm very aware that the rains is Lannister, especially since I've read the books. My point about it was that the particular version was eerie. Which flowed into joff being totally unhinged. After they killed off Sean Bean the most popular actor on the show, Jason Mamoa, probably the second most well known actor, The original king, the last remaining Targaryan prince, Rob Stark and his mom, etc, etc, you were "shocked" that some little patsy got axed?
