Have you? Last week some kid was doing one arm curls on a preacher. He had a pair of 25lb dumbbells, but was only using one of them at a time. I asked him if I could use the other one because there clearly was no point to have both. He said no, "im using both". A minute later some big guy asks him the same question and he gave him the dumbbell.
Today I walk into the gym, all super depleted and thin. I usually just walk through without even having to check in. The guy at the front desk stopped me, and made me check in and prove that I really go here, and then offered me "personal training".
People treat others a lot different depending on how "big" you are. I found this very annoying. If you're one of these *******s plz die.

No. Everyone minds their own business unless you ask for help.
Disregard bodyweight, acquire aesthetics.

Definitely. I'm trying to lift and I get 10/10s hitting on me all the time.

Get what you mean
A couple of years ago I started going to this gym with friends, at the time I was a little under 5 foot, so kept getting mistaken for a child, so I ended up buying over £200 of equipment for home use.
Recently gone back to the same gym, now 5'4" and still get looks off guys like 'whats he going to be able to do'.
Absolutely love that feeling of lifting twice as much as those dicks at half their height and age

WOW I though I was the only one. Everyone disrespected me when I was in the gym & school when I was 144 pounds but once I bulk up to 207 everyone didn't ask me "Are you using the weight" they just stared , when I was in school no one got in my way it felt really good tho apparently that's how society works what a shame but I never disrespected anyone only if you do it to me

The front desk easily could have just been a new guy, or the boss telling employees to crack down on people coming in without membership and to push PT.
As far as gym goers go and how they respect you, I find just mind your own business obey the cardinal rules and get your work done and once you become a regular and people see your determination the respect will come in. I don't look down on someone who is smaller then me, because they are smaller then me I look down on people who goof off, slack off, socialize, or just straight up don't get there work in. If I see you going to failure and really focused on your workout, I respect the hell out of you regardless of size.
Problem is there are people in every gym who go in sit around do some curls, do some bench socialize and just get in the way.
I have been mistreated a bit in my day, not blatantly but more or less just the looks you get from some people and people just not giving a furk about you getting in your way midset or something of that nature.
But I don't let it bother me, haters gonna hate and all I do is get in get my work in and get out.

I treat people depending on their form, not really their size. Maybe I'm a meddling nob, but if I see someone doing rows with a hideously bent back, or lateral raises with locked out elbows, I approach them and give them a few pointers. Sometimes they frown at me and look disgruntled but meh, it aggravates the sh!t out of me watching someone like that.
But yeah, the more regularly you go to the gym, the more effort you seem to be putting in, the more respect you'll be granted and the more people will start to acknowledge you. Just the way it works.
