PS3 3D Blu-ray Update Dated

3D. 3D. 3D. Sony’s right behind it, pushing out 3D games left, right and centre; but they’re also right on top of 3D movies, too, although the PlayStation 3 isn’t quite ready for 3D Blu-rays just yet.

That’s going to change though: the firmware update required to enable 3D TVs to receive the important technical wizardry from the PS3 has been dated, at least in principle, and it’s currently down for September.

The news comes via a special Sony breakfast meeting this morning in London, where various 3D games and such were shown off. The firmware update for 3D Blu-ray is (obviously) subject to change, but just now, that’s the date we’re being told.

We’ve fired off an email to our guys at Sony for official clarification.

If you plan on pre-ordering Fallout: New Vegas, you might want to carefully consider where you do it. Today Bethesda offered details on four different pre-order bonus packs divvied up between five retailers. Amazon, GameStop, Walmart, Steam and Best Buy all have special packages available filled with in-game items for those that plop down some cash early. The extras will come in the form of a code that can be redeemed for the in-game items.

Here are the details:

Classic Pack Available at GameStop
-Armored Vault 13 Suit - Extensively patched up and dotted with piecemeal armor, this outfit is an homage to the classic ending of the original Fallout.
-Vault 13 Canteen - This handy device is useful for staving off dehydration and providing a small amount of healing in the Mojave Wasteland.
-Weathered 10mm Pistol - A well-worn 10mm pistol that packs an extra punch despite its modest size.
5 Stimpaks - Food and water are good for long-term healing, but when the fighting is fierce, Stimpaks help keep Wastelanders upright.


Tribal Pack Available at Amazon
-Tribal Raiding Armor - Pieced together from scraps of armor, this outfit provides protection without impacting mobility.
-Broad Machete - This heavy-bladed melee weapon does high damage against limbs and can quickly deal out a flurry of attacks.
- 5 Bleak Venom doses - Useful on any Melee Weapon, Bleak Venom makes short of work of most living targets.
-10 Throwing Spears - If you would like to silently pin an enemy's head to a wall, Throwing Spears are the way to do it.

Caravan Pack Available at Steam and Walmart
-Lightweight Leather Armor - This hand-modified suit of leather armor reduces its overall weight without impacting its ability to protect.
-Sturdy Caravan Shotgun - Despite its rough appearance, this Caravan Shotgun will reliably fire 20 gauge shells until the Brahmin come home.
- 4 Repair Kits - Useful for repairing any outfit or weapon, Repair Kits are a valuable tool for any caravaner.
-Binoculars The Mojave Wasteland is a dangerous place, but with these trusty Binoculars you'll be able to spot trouble coming.

Mercenary Pack Available at Best Buy
-Lightweight Metal Armor - Modified for long-range travel, this Metal Armor sacrifices some protection for mobility and overall weight.
-Mercenary's Grenade Rifle - Though similar to other 40mm Grenade Rifles in the Mojave Wasteland, this model has a faster reload cycle.
-3 Super Stimpaks - When you absolutely, positively, need to keep your blood inside your body, Super Stimpaks fix you up in no time.
-3 Doctors Bags - Mercenaries and broken limbs go together like Iguana-on-a-Stick and Nuka Cola. Thankfully, these Doctors Bags take a bit of sting out of the inevitable crushed skull.

ITV Player May Come to PS3, in Discussions with Sony




Today Made2Game.com reports that the ITV Player may be coming to PS3, and ITV are currently in discussions with Sony about the possible launch.

For those unaware, ITV is a public service network of British commercial television broadcasters, set up under the Independent Television Authority (ITA) to provide competition to the BBC.

ITV is the oldest commercial television network in the UK, having begun broadcasting in 1955.

To quote from Telegraph.co.uk:

"ITV is also understood to be in discussions with Sony about launching ITV Player on the PS3 games console, according to the same source. The service would be streamed and advertising supported. It is hoping to launch on this platform also by the beginning of September.

Nintendo***8217;s Wii platform will not allow advertising and Microsoft***8217;s Xbox does not allow free content as it charges for all web content via its Xbox Live platform."

I honestly wish instead of bothering with "Metal Gear Rising", they would just remake the original Metal Gears for NES. Imagine infiltrating zanzibar and outerheaven in current gen graphics and gameplay as a young and rookie Solid Snake. Thats like a masterpiece waiting to happen,but unfortunetly game companies love "innovating" (aka breaking whats tried and true).


Oh well il still probably buy rising.

I really think one of the big thing at E3 will be about a new firmware that well make you put apps on your system. Just like the MLB app. It'd be pretty sweet to have like a pandora app and all that other stuff.
