    Write-up
LEUCINE could be hailed as one of the most potent natural muscle building supplements known to man. ALLMAX brings you the purest and most powerful single ingredient to build hard, lean, dense muscle, fast! LEUCINE (C6H13NO2) is an Essential Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA) known throughout bodybuilding as the ultimate muscle-builder.

LEUCINE is essential for achieving a positive nitrogen balance and building lean muscle mass.

LEUCINE activates an anabolic pathway called the mTOR pathway which stimulates muscle protein synthesis. By increasing LEUCINE consumption the mTOR pathway is signaled and protein synthesis is increased. No single ingredient has the pure, unadulterated anabolic power that LEUCINE does. Simply stated, LEUCINE is essential for achieving a positive nitrogen balance and building lean muscle mass.*

LEUCINE is one of the most concentrated amino acids within the skeletal muscle tissue.

LEUCINE is one of the three branched chain amino acids (the other two being Isoleucine and Valine) and is extremely important to consume dietary sources or supplements to provide the body with this important BCAA. It is naturally found in nuts, brown rice, whole wheat, cottage cheese chicken and fish. Unlike amino acids, which are metabolized in the liver, BCAAs are metabolized in the muscles and are integral for protein synthesis and for preserving lean muscle tissue. LEUCINE is one of the most concentrated amino acids within the skeletal muscle tissue.

LEUCINE is so essential for the body that it is referred to as a ?limiting nutrient?.

LEUCINE is so essential for the body that it is referred to as a ?limiting nutrient?. The body absolutely requires LEUCINE in order to make use of all of the other amino acids. Without adequate amounts of LEUCINE all other sources of protein can be deemed useless. In short, without LEUCINE the body doesn?t function properly and will not make use of protein.

    Implications for Athletes/Bodybuilders

    * Lean Muscle Preservation
LEUCINE helps to preserve lean muscle tissue. It has been found to work with insulin to promote protein synthesis in skeletal muscle. It is also essential for post workout recovery.
In fact, one study found that adding 2.8g of LEUCINE to a meal, whether it was high in protein or not, helped to increase muscle protein synthesis by approximately 60%! (1) Another study found 4.4g and 8.3g of LEUCINE increased muscle protein synthesis by 50-70%! From this research, researchers suggest consuming approximately 3-4g of LEUCINE to effectively maximize muscle protein synthesis. (2)

One study found that LEUCINE increased muscle protein synthesis by as much as 50-70%!

A study conducted on LEUCINE consumption found it may prevent muscle loss which is a negative fact of life for the aging population. The study group who consumed a LEUCINE-rich diet did not experience as great of protein degradation as the other group. The LEUCINE group experienced a more favorable protein breakdown which was more comparable to a younger participant?s pattern. (3)

LEUCINE also helps to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Research found that a positive LEUCINE balance indicates the body is in a state of protein anabolism and that a negative LEUCINE balance may suggest catabolism. Simply stated, LEUCINE is essential for achieving a positive nitrogen balance and building lean muscle mass.

    * Dieting and Blood Sugar Regulation
During dieting LEUCINE has been found to be especially helpful for its ability to spare protein degradation. When calories are restricted, the body uses LEUCINE as a source of gluconeogenesis, by supplementing with LEUCINE glucose blood levels can be stabilized as LEUCINE easily and readily converts to glucose. In fact, LEUCINE has been found to convert to glucose at a much faster rate than the other BCAAs.

LEUCINE can also supply the body with an energy source during stress, which is essential during extreme dieting or after training.

A study conducted on the different diet variations 30 minutes following resistance training found that the group who consumed a carbohydrate/protein+ LEUCINE supplement experienced a reduction in protein degradation, this group also showed an increase in skeletal muscle protein synthesis which was significantly greater than the study group who consumed just carbohydrates and protein. (4)

Leucine is good, glad to see this amino getting so popular.

Not sure on the source being superior but the more leucine the better IMO

The Leucine Powder has been doing really well at the store level and should rock in the BB.com store too. People like it in a powder form and can manipulate the dosage based on their needs. Leucine is very hydrophobic and should be blended or thrown in the mouth and washed down.

I been taking leucine for 1 month and i swear by the stuff! my muscles are almost rock hard and i havent even changed my routine and im getting growth again, i take 5 grams 15 mins before i start to warm up for my workout then straight after i have a protein rich meal, i recommend it over bcaa's anyday

heres some studys i kept note off
    eucine + glucose 3.

Dreyer HC, et al. Leucine-enriched essential amino acid and carbohydrate ingestion following resistance exercise enhances mTOR signaling and protein synthesis in human muscle. Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 2008; 294: E392-400

Leucine, when ingested with glucose, synergistically stimulates insulin secretion and lowers blood glucose.Abstract
Our laboratory is interested in the metabolic effects of ingested proteins. As part of this research, we currently are investigating the metabolic effects of ingested individual amino acids. The objective of the current study was to determine whether leucine stimulates insulin and/or glucagon secretion and whether, when it is ingested with glucose, it modifies the glucose, insulin, or glucagon response. Thirteen healthy subjects (6 men and 7 women) were studied on 4 different occasions. Subjects were admitted to the special diagnostic and treatment unit after a 12-hour fast. They received test meals at 8:00 am. On the first occasion, they received water only. Thereafter, they received 25 g glucose or 1 mmol/kg lean body mass leucine or 1 mmol/kg lean body mass leucine plus 25 g glucose in random order. Serum leucine, glucose, insulin, glucagon, and alpha-amino nitrogen concentrations were measured at various times during a 2.5-hour period after ingestion of the test meal. The amount of leucine provided was equivalent to that present in a high-protein meal, that is, that approximately present in a 350-g steak. After leucine ingestion, the leucine concentration increased 7-fold; and the alpha-amino nitrogen concentration increased by 16%. Ingested leucine did not affect the serum glucose concentration. When leucine was ingested with glucose, it reduced the 2.5-hour glucose area response by 50%. Leucine, when ingested alone, increased the serum insulin area response modestly. However, it increased the insulin area response to glucose by an additional 66%; that is, it almost doubled the response. Ingested leucine stimulated an increase in glucagon. Ingested glucose decreased it. When ingested together, the net effect was essentially no change in glucagon area. In summary, leucine at a dose equivalent to that present in a high-protein meal, had little effect on serum glucose or insulin concentrations but did increase the glucagon concentration. When leucine was ingested with glucose, it attenuated the serum glucose response and strongly stimulated additional insulin secretion. Leucine also attenuated the decrease in glucagon expected when glucose alone is ingested. The data suggest that a rise in glucose concentration is necessary for leucine to stimulate significant insulin secretion. This in turn reduces the glucose response to ingested glucose.

    leucine and fat loss
leucine. A study published in Diabetes in 2007 makes leucine even more interesting. In this study the researchers did experiments on mice. Half of the animals were given ordinary feed [Chow] and the other half were given feed with extra fat [HFD]. Half of the Chow and HFD mice were given 55 mg extra leucine each day in their drinking water [Leu]. This doubled the leucine intake.

(Researchers at Pennsylvania State University who repeated the experiment in 2009 using less leucine observed no change. [J Nutr. 2009 Apr; 139(4): 715-9.])

The leucine supplementation was done for 15 weeks. In this period the HFD mice became fatter. But in the HFD mice that got extra leucine the increase in fat mass was a quarter less.

When the researchers monitored the mice's oxygen expenditure over a day, they saw that the mice on leucine used more oxygen. That means the mice burned more calories, and that's probably how leucine suppletion inhibited the growth of fat reserves.

An analysis of the muscle and white fat cells from the lab animals showed how this worked: the leucine supplement enhanced the synthesis of the uncoupling protein 3 [UCP3]. UCPs boost the mitochondrias' burning ability. They 'decouple' the burning of food and the production of ATP

also wrote down from somewhere also resulted in 7.5% more lean body fat

Leucine has an anabolic effect on muscle cells. This is probably because the muscle cells invest more energy in synthesising muscle protein the more leucine metabolites they ‘see’. The researchers wanted to know whether leucine can be used to counteract the catabolic mechanisms that start up when muscles become inactive and which lead to accelerated muscle tissue breakdown.

The researchers gave rats a single daily dose of 2.7 g leucine per kg bodyweight, introducing it through a tube. A control group received no leucine. Three days after supplementation started, the researchers put one of the hind legs of each rat in a splint. The splint was kept on for seven days, preventing the animals from using the muscles in that leg. During the entire period the rats in the experimental group were given leucine, and after seven days the splint was removed.

The mass of the soleus muscle decreased less in the animals that had received leucine supplementation. And when these animals regained the use of their hind leg, they also regained muscle mass more quickly.

To me all these test results on leucine alone are point blank proof leucine doesnt need the other 2 aminos to work, muscle cells prioritide leucine over any other amino first thing anyway because leucine is around 80% more anabolic

in terms of how long the effects last, taking leucine before workout increases muscle growth by 33% post workout which didnt happen when leucine was only taken during post workout with pw meal also missing out on the more significant anti catabolic effects druing the pre-w, allot of studys say that after leucine hits the blood stream effects last around 2 hours and the amino is kept in the bloodsteam until taken in which is why pre during and post result in expensive piss hahaha
