    Nuts

Hey guys what do you all think of eating nuts, particularly late at night?

I often eat a cup of pecans or pistachios before going to bed. Sometimes I mix them up.

Specifically: Pistachios, Pecans, Almonds, peanuts and Walnuts.

I have a TON of pistachios because a friend of mine owns a farm.... is it good to snack on them? Are they as good for you as nuts like almonds?

    Thanks

    Do it.
People ask why I train so much and eat like I do all the time... Well, the answer is simple:
I will not allow somebody with half the determination and twice the genetics be better than me.

If you are following how much protein, carbs and fat you take in a day - easy - does a portion of nuts fit in to that?

Even so, if you are not tracking your food intake but eating relatively cleanly, nuts are a good source of good fats. Just don't gorge out on them every day, as they are high in fat.

    For example:

    A cup of pecans/pistachios is 685 calories, 73g of fat (9g protein)

This is a *lot* of fat and calories to be eating daily, despite it being good fat.

To compare a McDonlads BigMac has 492 calories, 10g from fat.

A full cup is a lot of calories. The fats are all good but make sure your not over doing the calories.

it depends on your goals if at maintance or bulk, have at it.

but they are very calorie dense (dont get a lot for a lot of calories) and is easy to over do it.

so if your cutting you can have them, but make sure they fit into your macros.

you can over do health food too.
