So if you do everything right, such as eating well, working out properly and taking enough rest, does ~30 pounds sound right to be putting on in a year?
Obviously, some people put on wieght much faster than others. Therefore what do you think is a good amount to be putting on in a year?

Actually, I think its quite possible. I went from 160 (7%) to 190 (8%) in about 18 weeks. I started in September and I am currently 190 right now. Thats about thirty pounds right?? Here is my suggestion for the poster: Use the calculators on here and figure out how many calories you need a day. Add about 250-500 calories to that... BAM!!! Your up 1lb in a week. Just keep adding the same amount of calories (250-500) every week or two and you should reach your goal. Just a FYI too, I used a 50/30/20 macro-nutrient breakdown (C/P/F) for my diet, Plus or minus 2-4% on the fat. I also utilized cardio 3-4 times a week. Nothing big, just LIT training for about 20-25 minutes to have a little more fat burning effect. I hope this helps and good luck!!

You can gain max 2 pounds of muscle a month:
2x12=24 pounds of pure muscle
But that would take really hard training and good dieting▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The teens on here take that 2lbs a month advice too much into heart, its just a guideline not to mention the muscle glycogen storage and water weight... Teenagers relatively new to working out will be able to put on alot more muscle than a 35 year old guy who's been training for 10 years, theres so many other factors involved its stupid to tell him what he can't and cannot do. OP: If you're a beginner, I'd say with a good diet it'd be relatively easy to put on that amount of weight in a year.

there's no set number for everyone as to what they can gain in a year. Everyone is genetically different and have been training for different lengths of time.
BBing is a week to week sport. have a goal of say 1kg or 2lbs a week. Find out how much you need to eat in order to achieve that goal. Keep your eye on the big picture, but focus on learning what you're capable of and what you need to do to make the best gains possible

Look...most people arent going to hit the max 2lbs of muscle per month rule...
If your an ectomorph or endomorph you wont get good as gains as a meso,if your diet is out of check that will wreck your gains again,if you dont get enough rest it will damage your gains,if you don't work out hard enough or if you work out too hard it will affect your gains,so many different things can affect gains.
Only if you do all of these things perfectly and you have good genetics will you put on the 2lbs of muscle a month,if not you wont
12lbs is much more of a reasonable goal for a years working out...Ask some people that have been around this place for ages...i bet most of them did'nt put of 24lbs of pure muscle in there first year unless on steroids...
and if you do gain 24lbs in a year remember for every lb of muscle you get .2lbs of water and glycogen so if you gained 24lbs it would actually be about 19 lbs of muscle...thats if your bodyfat had stayed the exact same which does'nt happen while bodybuilding...ever...you are almost guaranteed to add a couple of pounds of fat when bulking...even on a clean bulk...so I think 12lbs is a very reasonable goal for a year of working out.

The standard benchmark gains you can hope for is up to 0.5 pounds of muscle a week. Thats 26 pounds of muscle a year. This is down to your genetics, but most people wont be able to gain even that much.
You can easily gain 30 pounds, but what i'm saying is, at best, only 26 pounds will be muscle. Hell, you can gain 60 pounds in a year, but it will still only be 26 pounds of muscle.I'm out to prove that vegetarians can be body builders too.
I'm also a loser and would appreciate positive reputation for being so nice and stuff.
