I have a 2019 GMC AT4 6.2 in the past year my repair bills have totaled over 15k.
Tailgate repair
Back window repair
A/C repair/replacement
Cams/lifter replacement
Brake replacement (not due to basic/common wear/maintenance)
My sister had to have her engine replaced in her Kia.
My father had to have his transmission replaced.
We are probaly at 30k between the three of us in ONE year. These arent high mileage cars. My truck has the most miles of any of the vehicles and is the oldest at 42k on a 2019.
Everything is garbage these days...My neighbor has the new model of Tundra that stays in the shop so the Japanese cars arent a safer bet.
Rant - off.

Yep all of them are **** lmao. That's what happens when you have low wage workers that are prob on drugs and unionized so they can't be fired building them. That or built in Mexico. I think the only quality cars at this point are porsches srs. Even japanese cars are no longer reliable!!! Toyota went to **** and so did Honda.

I have a 2017 vw gti, made in mexico. i came from jap cars before so i was a little worried but no mechanical/major repairs at all just basic maintenance. its got some minor issues, its got a small leak from the wiper fluid container, its a pain in the ass to get to but ill look for it some day, in the mean time i just fill it half way which seems to be below the leak line.
it also leaks a small amount of freon over time, i have been trying to find the leak point with dyes but no luck, i know it will cost out the ass to have a shop do it so i just refill it every few months. ill probably sell it without ever fixing the small leak.🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022

Yeah I've got a 2021 Toyota Highlander. Some of the "advanced" features on it drive me crazy. I don't like the handless back hatch open. It's slow and I want the option to open and close it myself. Also if the car is running you just can't open it. So fukking retarded. Then the seat belt indicator is loud and annoying. If I'm on a road I have my seat belt on. But if I'm driving between different stores in a giant parking lot that connects a lot of stores I'm not wearing it.
From what I've read that's the tip of the iceberg though, some cars have some way more annoying/complicated features.See Krackerjacked's sig

Lmao @AT4. I've intentionally gone mid tier or lower on trim to avoid garbage vehicles with 1,000 sensors that are going to wear out and cause electrical issues. You don't need a 24 inch screen in your vehicle. You don't need driver assist. All of these things overcomplicate your vehicle and they are just additional parts to fail and ruin your day.

Not safe either. Toyota just recalled nearly 100K Tundras because machine shavings weren't fully cleaned from the blocks of some engines during the manufacturing process causing failures. So far the engine failure rate has been like .03%, so almost nothing. But the problem is the issue is so sporadic and random that they have no way to narrow them down and had to recall nearly everything they made from 22 to current.
Doesn't matter what manufacturer it is. They're ALL (and I mean ALL) having QC issues out the ass post COVID. It's like a light switched for quality. Not sure why, but quality in numerous industries has tanked since COVID, not just automotive.

Right around 2003 is when they started using plastic on things like intake manifolds and the build quality has gotten worse every year since. Agreed that you are better off buying a base model without all the extra electronics. That chit is constantly breaking and throwing codes.
