Misc frequent flyers, do U think "Clear" airport screening is worth the $189/yr?

my renewal is coming up & im torn but i just did the math n it comes out to like $16/mo. have never had a wait of more than like 3mins in the Clear line & then you get walked to the front of the line to go thru the body scanner. i mean it legit makes screening a total of like 7 mins not even kidding.

after writing this i think its a yea for me. discuss

Easy yes, walk past a few hundred people waiting in line for over a hour and your done with the whole process in 10-15 min.

Meh. I don't think I would get it if my credit card didn't cover the fee. Precheck is rarely more than a 5 minute wait for me outside of really busy times at certain hubs. Lately I've skipped clear because the line was longer than regular precheck. I've had times where there were 10+ in line for clear but pre was completely empty. Personally I'd do global entry or nexus if you frequent Canada. It's only $50 until October.

Why would you want to sit in line with Plebs and remove your shoes and belt? I'd definitely keep paying even if you don't fly often.

My boss has Clear and I have TSA Pre-check. I beat her most of the time through the line when we fly.

Pre check is worth paying for and clear is not.

The thing with clear is that you have to wait for someone to assist you atht kiosk thing and then walk you to the front of the line. Often times I just skip Clear and take Pre Check only and I kinda keep an eye on the customers in the Clear line and I usually beat them.

I don’t mind having Clear, but I wouldn’t pay for it if I had to and I already had pre check

I've been in and out of every major airport in this country, and most mid ones. PC is worth it everywhere. Clear is only worth it if your home airport is a huge airport with tsa bottlenecks, otherwise it's worthless.

2. No it's not worth it. You get to the airport at the same time, your flight takes off at the exact same moment as otherwise. You're saving 10 minutes in line, 10 minutes flying let's say 6 times a year, 12 times through the airport, 120 minutes for $180 dollars, I'll stand around on my phone for 2 hours if you'll give me $180.

3. Love long lines when there's a HBB in line and I wall past her 6 times as we snake the line around and she keeps glancing at me comparing me to her moggless bf or husband. Love looking at beautiful women.

For someone like me who flies 0-3 times a year, nah.

If you fly 5+ times a year, probably. Always jelly standing in those long lines and seeing the tsa pre folks. It's kind of like the fast pass for an amusement park ride.

Maybe it depends a bit on the airports you frequent the most.

The main incentive for me is it would mean a longer time chillin' before the flight and probably drinking/eating/miscing while waiting.

Just use a credit card that covers Global Entry/TSA Pre Check. Yes, I think it's worth it. Especially if you usually travel with just a carry on. You will save lots of time.
