Went to school with some kids that wound up making video games. From what they say, even their little indie team got infiltrated by someone. They didn't even get a payout, they willingly subverted their own project. My friends tried to push back but basically got gaslit and manipulated by the rest of the team.
Now they are essentially held hostage in the franchise they started and collect a paycheck to shut their mouths and watch some new person who just got hired 10 years into their company get given complete control. Apparently the new woke hires even make a bunch of stuff to mock the devs they pushed out of power. Like the couple I know are practicing Catholics and there is a mission where you shoot up a church. They made female characters look gender neutral, and the girl I know gets called bigoted when she asks why the women look so unrealistic. Guess the importance of a woman's actual opinion only goes as far as the ideology she supports?

Of course this is just what I hear second hand, but if it is true it goes to show how deep this plague manifests itself. They are a tiny company, maybe 25 people tops, and barely make money on the games they sell as it is. No publisher, no Blackrock, no salary or even consistent paycheck. They split the small pittance they make on sales. I tell them to quit and just start a new company, not sure why they even bother sticking around.
