Correct me if I’m wrong but every MC of every AC game was the proper ethnicity for the location and time period being depicted until they finally decided to do Japan (probably the most requested setting). I've never played an AC game but I'm pretty sure all the protagonists before have been fictional characters and this is the first one that stars a historical figure.
