That’s pretty stupid if true and would make much more sense the other way around, especially if they wanted to play into the Yasuke thing. Might actually even be somewhat decent then.

This is more of a general question for AssCreed as a whole, but if I'm understanding it right, they went from the protagonist having to be a direct descendant and having to relive their past, to the analmus letting them just play whoever but still having to follow the past, to now allowing enough creative liberties with reliving the past to where you're inherently reshaping historical events and changing entire bloodlines of the protagonist.

So, why in the fresh hell are they still even bothering with that memory Matrix bullschit? How about focus on trying to tell just one remotely passable story that doesn't devolve into their tired Wish.com Ancient Aliens subplot nobody even gives a fukk about anymore? Maybe design a UI that doesn't look like it's been infected with sci-fi aids to constantly remind us that we're playing a dude who's playing a dude in this meta antithesis to immersion?

Damn, I kinda wish Microsoft bought out Ubisoft. Maybe steal all the architectural/environmental designers for other projects.

the roles would definitely make more sense being reversed, but this is Ubisoft.

One of the many things that irk the hell out of me with this series is how even when Ubisoft inadvertently creates the possibility for an engaging system by having a male and female protagonist, they still fukk it up in favor of being as safe and boring as humanly possible. It might actually be worth playing their games with different characters if, for example, the female protagonist had a totally different play style more in line with the history they're too busy snorting lines off of by having her actually trying to fit in with other females in the society of the period. No, they're just more interested in shoehorning as much rainbow sex as possible instead of coming up with a legitimate reason for a female assassin seducing and stealthing her way to a kill

Looking over his reported history and his station as retainer, he'd ironically make for a better boss fight for an assassin trying to kill his lord. Now, let's say that is how the game begins: you fail protecting your lord and then seek revenge. That right there would make for an awesome premise for a game if it were not (1) current year, (2) Ubisoft, (3) beyond obvious at this point, and (4) Ubisoft.

That would still leave us with the ongoing predicament where the assassin game has jack and schit to do with being an assassin. The funny thing is that Sucker Punched managed to come up with more standard combat gameplay alongside stealth on their first go, while Ubisoft continues to fail at both as they also continue to fail at picking a lane on what sort of game they even want to make.

Yeah, the Analmus thing went from "you're reliving your ancestor's memories because magic science DNA bullschit" to "ok just put in some DNA from some rando who died millennia ago". The "choices" are made by the player, the guy/gal in the pod is just watching a movie.

It's just a badly executed framing device that stopped being relevant after they killed Desmond and finished the Ezio storyline.

To be honest they did tone down the modern day parts, think I spent maybe 10 minutes in Odyssey and Valhalla (finished the base game in the former and about 80% of the latter) with the current protag chick and I have absolutely no idea who she and the other dorks are.
