This is a thread where miscers who love to run, want to start running, or whatever can discuss training philosophies, motivation, running programs, and etc.
Please keep all posts on topic as this is a serious thread.
Here is a link to a good program called "Couch to 5k" that will help ease you into running shape gradually

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to running but I'm definitely up for giving the 5k a try. I did find that I have a problem with my calves when I'm running, almost like they're going to cramp up but I guess it's because they're not used to it.
Fitness-wise, I'm working out six days a week, sometimes seven. Cardio is plyometrics, tae bo and the boxing workouts on the Wii, weights are usually compound exercises and I try (not very successfully) to fit in flexibility training too.
Looking forward to starting now.Viking to the core.

Awesome, have a great run and feel free to post up a time if you log that.
I'm where you're at haha, gotta push through the pain. Become stronger today than you were yesterday
Good luck brah!
lulz, yeah I was in great shape when I played football in HS but since then I lost any conditioning I had. Pain in the ass to get it back
Awesome, I thought about doing some boxing or martial arts as a good hobby to help me get back in shape.
Did my first day of the couch to 5k program and it wasn't bad at all, I feel like this is something that can really help me get where I want to be. Ran on the treadmill today which I hate, I need to get out on the park trail for my next run.

I would try having some very calorie dense high carb food right before you run such as powerbars or whatever, then when you're done instead of drinking water have a sports drink or juice. That should help you get in a couple hundred calories without having to eat a crapload, peanut butter or nutella also works well.

Okay, I am now seriously confused.
I did the Wii running workout four times (basically you do the 400m track 6 times for one workout, and I set it for one after the other so it would be 2400m then 30 second pause, then 2400m, then 30 second pause...etc, etc).
If their measurements are correct and my maths is right, I just did 9600m, or 9.6km...WTF??? I thought I couldn't even run that far. Don't get me wrong that was f*cking tough (at one point I thought I'd keel over lol), but it can't be right, can it?
Bollocks to it.Viking to the core.
Fark yew.

You could be overpronating. When you run, the balls of your feet should hit the floor but nothing else, so if you're overpronating, you'll be slightly over-turning the foot so when it strikes the ground, the wrong part takes the impact.
Have you got cushioned insoles or arch cushions? You might find it helps (I do since the arch in my foot flattens whenever I run).Viking to the core.
